I agree that those actors are great, but the episode itself is terrible.
I don't want to get into the crap "retcon" that this is an unrecorded/unknown contact with the Ferengi, clearly violating the intent behind the Ferengi's introduction in TNG (yeah, "Regeneration" kind of did it too with the Borg, as did Voyager before it with the Hansons/Seven, but Regeneration was good and the unknown nature of the Borg and security needs justify it better.)
Beyond that, the episode is just bad. The Ferengi don't have any of the depth or quality that DS9 developed for them, and additionally they all act like morons. Archer doesn't come off any better. It is as if the ENT writers only looked at TNG's Ferengi episodes (and maybe a synopsis of some DS9 ones) before writing the episode.
So, about the DSC Season 2 trailer.
DSC surpassed DS9 as my favorite Trek series during its first season because of its thematic elements, narrative structure, and unconventional subversion of the typical Star Trek fomula, and Season 2 looks like it's going to be following suit. Adding Christopher Pike to the ship's existing crew - and taking him away from the Enterprise - gives the writers a way to both honor existing Canon and simultaneously expand it, and also helps to further dispel the myth that the series isn't set in the "Prime Universe".
The "search for Spock" element of the story also gives us even more reason to care about Michael since it gives her a personal stake in this "hunt for the red bursts" that Pike commandeers the Discovery for, while also serving as a "hook" for new viewers who may not have watched the first season but might be drawn to the show because of the presence of the Enterprise.

Gene Roddenberry's ghost taking over a live broadcast and yelling "DSC is Prime Universe, ok! Also It's DSC, not STD, unless you're just being a passive aggressive buthole! Later taters!" wouldn't convince the already convinced on that. Everyone seems polarized.
They could work on giving us reasons to care about the character that has nothing to do with her connection to Spock. Crazy idea? Maybe? But it could work!
I tend to think that "personal stakes" are overused and should be kept at a minimum, especially in a franchise about space exploration where most of the conflict is with the unknown. That said, when it's well made (Rogue One, for instance), then I don't mind.
They already that in Season 1.
I sure didn't see it. I saw them talk about how great she is, but it didn't translate at all in the story, then left on the dumbest thing ever: leaving a planet destroying bomb with a terrorist and telling us how great it all is.
Michael Burnham was character assassinated by her own writers. I actually feel sorry for Martin-Green being stuck with the material they gave her.
Perhaps the Enterprise is damaged. There were service pods of some sort flying around her.
Right. Perhaps some nacelle problems prompted the decision. That, or the spore drive will be used.

Maybe Pike's exceptional skill in commanding both the Discovery and the Enterprise simultaneously will be what gets him the promotion to Fleet Captain.
I watched the Netflix version of the trailer. It's utter shite after the Lenny Kravitz version.
What does Pike say after "He took leave"? I've listened half a dozen times and all I can make out is "mumble mumble, a question he didn't answer"
"It's like he found a question he couldn't answer" ie Spock is off hunting the mystery of the anomalies as well.
