Spoilers Season 2 Publicity Photos

Oh, the style is comparable to the older series, I just didn't think it was as flattering as it could be. Majel's had softer bangs. It's perfectly serviceable and I am sure I'll get used to it.
Any more flattering and people will declare it not real Star Trek ;)

The hair-do is a problem..., really...?

Not seeing a problem here.
It has a very 50's & 60's style appearance to me.
Agreed, I think the hair looks pretty dead-on, personally.

Man, I hate to be this harsh, but in this shot Rebecca Romjin looks like she had at least one or two plastic surgeries too many...
I don't know. She's a very beutiful woman. But somehow the way her face looks here stresses me out, in an uncanny valley kind of way.:sigh:
And I feel bad now. Both for her, and for me making such comment about her.

Heh... funny you mention "uncanny valley" in this context. One of the major character affectations with the original Number One is that many people felt she was quite robotic and unemotional (with the original Pike also being quite wooden), which is why the character was removed in the second pilot, moving Spock into what would have been an otherwise redundant role and Shatner's Kirk cast in the role of a more "passionate" leader to generate some more real chemistry. Personally, I think she looks and acts the role quite well, from what we've seen so far!

Nah, the character was removed because she was played by Roddenberry's mistress. And it was easier for Gene to dump the character than explain to Majel she was being replaced.

Would anyone be against “Lt. Cmdr Majel Barrett“? Or would that be too on-the-nose?

I was actually thinking that the show runners may do something like this so I'd be fine with it. I think it would be a nice gesture. If they wanted it to be less obvious they could use elements from the rest of Majel's real name and call the character Leigh Hudec.

It's hard not to react to the images, like with the Klingons and their lack of hair or newly sprouted manes. Spock and his beard. It's part of the creation. I think the hair on a lot of Star Trek characters, especially female, is not good. Frumpy even.

I like this idea better.

Or it could be her acting the character.
