I guess the really interesting route would be to lampshade this thing. That is, accept that "The Cage" is a bit of an anomaly for Spock, but reinforce the idea that it being one is an in-universe feature.
Is it just his youth? As a kid, he was quite the hothead when provoked (much like Tuvok). Or is it a phase all Vulcan teens go through, even after a serene childhood? Or did Spock have special issues with his human half at the time?
We don't need to learn this, as long as we get the lampshading. Worf was acting kinda crazy in "Where Silence Has Lease", say, and the other heroes seemed worried, but the issue was never addressed. In light of the rest of Dorn's portrayal of the character, and in light of what we know of Klingon physiology, we may well speculate Worf was having a "period" of some sort. It rather enriches the episode, bringing further horror elements to the spooky story: one of our heroes can't be trusted. But it need not be explained away.
