Season 2 of SGU on Blu-ray canceled in the UK

Since it was also cancelled in region one, this isn't that surprising.
Really? With all the good response to the final 10 episodes, they've decided not to do a Blue Ray for S2? Surprising, I'd've thought they might see that as a way to recoup some losses?

I'd guess that sales of the first season weren't that hot for MGM, and that without a third season of the show coming out to provide some cross-marketing potential, releasing the second season on Blu-Ray just isn't worth it.

Unfortunately not releasing it on Blu-ray will only encourage piracy. I would have saved the episodes off SyFy HD, but my cable companies (Time Warner and Cox) encrypted non-broadcast HD channels.

However, SGU is syndicated. If you want your own HD legal copies of SGU season 2, live in the United States in a TV market that broadcasts SGU in 1080i HD, and have a new enough computer, you could record season 2 episodes with a TV tuner dongle.

This is a list of stations
that currently carry SGU in syndication. Would be a better source than iTunes 720p HD-lite.

Caprica hasn't been released on Blu-Ray, either, which is a shame. I haven't downloaded it, but I also haven't bought it yet, which is a shame, because I missed the last six or so episodes and would like to review them at some point.

The last 6 are mostly the best ones. The Series really came together in the last run of episodes

All I know is that the first 21 episodes were a real struggle to get through. There wasn't a single episode that I can point to as a good or excellent episode of television in that lot. I'll probably watch thee rest at some point...but it isn't high on my list. Especially when it's a series without a strong resolution that took more than 75% of its run to find its footing.

Caprica? There's only 18 episodes, and I believe that includes the 2 part Pilot. The first 12, I'd give at least half of those a good or higher rating.

Oh, I still thought you were talking about SGU. My bad!
Heh, no, I was responding to your post saying you hadn't watched the final 6 episodes of Caprica, because they hadn't been released on Blu-ray either, and you haven't downloaded them.

SGU, yea, first season, not much to like about it for me, S2 first half, a few decent episodes. But, yea, it wasn't until 2nd half of 2nd season that SGU finally hit it's stride and was fairly good consistently.

That's what I get for reading through quickly. I don't know how I got the idea you were writing about SGU, looking back over your post. Just carelessness on my part.

I am looking forward to the last six episodes of "Caprica." When I'll see them, however, is an open question.

After the SG1 and Atlantis DVDs having complete series sets, I was waiting for SGU's complete series on Blu Ray - just in case they had extra, um, extras. Hence why I haven't bought the current DVD versions of the seasons.

I'm very disappointed that there's no blu-ray release of Season 2, since I was quite happy with the quality of Season 1 on blu. :/
