Season 2 an overall improvement?

I just started watching and caught up to episode 3 last night. I dunno, I've been satisfied with every DISC episode so far in the new season.

In my eyes the title definitely rings true. Its definitely more in tune with the 80/90/00s Trek. It's back to its roots of exploration and discovery (no pun intended), season 1 was to war centric for my taste. What are the general views here?

In my opinion, season 2 is MUCH improved over season 1. Really digging Captain Pike. I have liked season 2 (10 episodes in) except for the one episode with the Klingons and that Klingon child. Whenever they show up, it's like someone has thrown an anchor and is dragging behind the boat. It just drags the whole story down. My fear is that they are inevitably going to show up again before the season is over. I will be sad to see Pike leave.
