Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

We should petition Disney to drop the Han Solo movie. Nothing good will come out of it.

I pity the poor bastard who gets the job.

^Yeah, because movie studios have a long history of paying even the slightest attention to fan petitions.

Anyway, odds are, even if they make a hash of it, it's pretty much guaranteed to be profitable. It's just a question of how profitable.

Disney still needs to gauge the result of Rogue One to seem how their movies will preform. A Han Solo movie has potential. Both ways. Remember, the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles did fairly well on TV.

An Obi-Wan film or series of films would be a no-brainer, but they'll probably wait until after the release of Rogue One before they greenlight any other standalone movies. I imagine the new film will be such a big hit, though, that it won't take them long to announce other projects and I hope Ewan McGregor is involved in at least one of them.

Well, even though I was firmly standing in the Anthony Ingruber fan camp, I'm pleased that they picked a relatively unknown actor for the role. I haven't seen Hail Caesar yet (has anyone?) but I'm interested to see his performance.

I watched a couple of interviews online and he seems charming and likable enough. He's a bit short at 5'9, but then he is supposed to be the young Han Solo so I guess they kind of have an excuse there. ;)

There has been some buzz in the stories that the actor's performance in "Hail Caesar" has caught the attention of some critics as being "break out". It remains to be seen. One thing I noticed in some of the side-by-side photos with him and a 30-something Harrison Ford is that they look very similar, almost father / son. You give Alden the right hair color and hair style, he'd be a dead ringer...

Ford's 6'1, so I don't think 5'9 is going to be too noticeable a difference on screen.

Alden looks close enough, but Ingruber is a freakin clone of Ford.

And was more than good enough an actor to take the role and make something really fun out of it. It's a real shame they didn't cast Ingruber, but hopefully Ehrenreich will do a good job and we'll like him.

I'm not familiar with Ehrenreich, but I'm trying to be optimistic here.

I was hoping for Ingruber but given how completely wrong some of the names bandied about were for the role (Dave Franco?!), I guess this guy doesn't look too bad. Fingers crossed he does the role justice.

Ehrenreich was indeed great in Hail, Caesar! I might've liked to see Ingruber too, but I can also see the downsides in going for flat-out mimicry.

He was good enough in "Hail, Ceasar!" but he was also playing a very different, and arguably less demanding, role.

I just don't get all the love for Ingruber. He was good at an impersonation, but I don't want somebody to do an "impersonation" of Han Solo - I want somebody to PLAY the character. It's not enough to look/sound like Harrison Ford (for me anyway).

I have never heard of the actor cast as Han Solo, but hope he is a good actor first and foremost.

Maybe Ingruber is a good actor as well, but all I see people talk about is how much he looks/sounds like Ford. Not enough for me.

We've also talked about how good an actor he is. Check out The Age of Adaline and you'll see that he could have carried the role of Han Solo.

If all he were doing were a great impression, that wouldn't be enough. But he's a pretty good actor.
