Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

I think I'm more impressed that Ron Howard even knows enough to make that reference than anything else. I mean you have to be pretty deep into Star Wars fandom to have even heard of Tag & Bink. When it comes to the weird and/or obscure, they're right up there with Jaxxon, the Hoojibs and Trioculus.

Oh, man, Trioculus. That was a story.

I'm always going to have a soft spot for those stories since they were my first experience with Star Wars outside of the movies. Actually they might have been my second, I can't remember if I saw the Ewok movies, or read the Jedi Prince (Trioculus) stories first.

I think it fits perfectly.

Of course it fits perfectly. It's the star of the movie. It's like calling the first Jack Reacher movie.... Jack Reacher. But, it's not particularly GOOD. Or exciting. It doesn't really say what it's about, just who is at the center of it.

What if it was Han Solo at Star's End? (which is a great book.)
Or Kessel Run.
Or Han Solo's Great Big Wookie Adventure.

This title feels like it was chosen by committee trying not to do anything to risky.

Let us judge the film by its content not its title.

I don't know about you, but, I'm judging the title.

Not at all, it says exactly what it is, a film about Han Solo.

Marketing.

Do you really think that a Han Solo movie was going to be a hard sell? Do you imagine the following scene taking place anywhere in the world?

"Gee, honey, want to see the new Star Wars movie?"
"I don't know... what's it about?"
"Solo."
"Solo? Like the cups?"
"No. Solo, like the character."
"Napoleon Solo? The Man From UNCLE? They made another one?"
"No. Han Solo."
"Who?"

I would argue the title merely says who is at the center of the movie, not what the movie IS. Let's look at the Bourne movies. Which title gives you a sense of what the movie IS:
The Bourne Identity
Jason Bourne.

This is the biggest brand in the WORLD and this is the most exciting and inspiring title they could come up with? Marketing geniuses.

I don't understand your point of view

Solo the perfect name, it doesn't need explanation, it doesn't need a subtitle.

Everything is explained in the single word.
