THE DOCTOR (CONT'D)
I want Rory to see it too. So I'm sending you somewhere. Together.

AMY

What, like a date?

THE DOCTOR
Anywhere you want, any time you want. One condition: it has to be amazing. The Moulin Rouge in 1890! The first Olympic games! Think of it as a wedding present. Because frankly it's either this or tokens.

AMY

What do you think Rory?

Rory says nothing. Still hunched against his pillar. The Doctor smiles understandingly. He knows what this is about.

THE DOCTOR
It's a lot to take in, isn't it. Tiny box, huge room inside: what's that about? Let me explain...

Interesting. Is that the Doctor-lite episode?
No, "Vampires of Venice" midway through the season. It's one of the two episodes that was filmed in Croatia. Some of the set pics show Rory wearing a t-shirt that has his and Amy's face imprinted on the front.

Sounds like the Doctor's sending them on a honeymoon, so I assumed they were going alone. Isn't it a bit creepy if the Doctor comes along?

Yeah, I saw this. Very disappointing.

So how many episodes are you going to watch before you give up completely? It already sounds like you aren't excited or interested in the new series.

Will you watch the whole series or just a few episodes?

Will you continue to watch if it disappoints?

Just curious.

I'll do what I did last year and watch only the Dalek episode(s). I'll base the rest of the season from that.

Yeah, I saw this. Very disappointing.

I was quite excited and interested, but between that awful trailer yesterday and this "it has to be amazin!!!11!!" bit, I'm slightly jaded on it. I'll still watch it, unless it turns truly awful. I agree as much as the next person that Moffat is far better a writer than RTD, and that gives me hope. We won't really be able to judge until we see it.

I'm only judging what I've seen so far. It's easy to dismiss me as someone who'll just hate everything, just that's not true. I try to be considered in my opinions. As I say, Moffat is a decent writer, and I hope he'll live up to expectation.

Which is better than people who have already decided they'll love it and Matt Smith will be brilliant. We really won't know until it's on.

Yeah, I'm fairly hopeful for the next series too. Doesn't mean I'm definitely sure I'll love it.

Stop picking on me for it :(

Well, Bones, is there anything else we can pick on you for instead?

Seriously, the trailer really did disappoint. But the handful of lines above are part of a larger scene that could go either direction. I'm not sure, based on the scant data we have yet that it's possible to make any sort of rational judgment. I'm optimistic about Moffatt, still a bit undecided about Smith, and hope the show continues to entertain. I've yet to see anything that settles the issue and lets me poke fun at Bones the way I do over the sonic screwdriver.

Why not? You seem to delight in picking on people whose only crime is actually liking the majority of the show this bloody forum is about? (take your snide little comment to Sci in another post)

Emphasis mine.

People just might be doing what you're doing--judging what they've seen so far, and coming up with a different opinion. Yet, to you, that's in some way wrong.

I don't understand that.

No, there have been people about saying they're sure they'll definitely love Matt Smith and the new show without anything to go on at all. Which irritates me, the same as someone blanketly saying they're sure they'll hate it would. This isn't about people having different views from me on the trailer or this script excerpt.

Anyway, moving on...vampires, eh? Hope they're better than Twilight.

I'm not being negative for the sake of it. And I'm doing my best to point out that I hold out a lot of hope for this next series.
And if nothing else, at least this would seem to have put the kibosh on any notion of more Doctor romance. I certainly welcome that.

I can understand where Bones is coming from. He (she?) wants to be entertained by the new show and hopes for the best, but there are niggling doubts that keep surfacing. I'm a bit more of an optimist and learned my lesson after numerous regenerations that new Doctors usually bring something new and entertaining to the show. And I'm optimistic about Moffatt. But that most recent trailer was dumb and the script excerpt did nothing to boost morale and could be taken (admittedly out-of-context) as a rather bland bit of writing.

Those two releases should have helped build excitement, but neither did ... at least not for Bones and me.

Bones and I? Whatever.
