It doesn't work lol, there was an odd silence in the theater when the little turd was introduced

I hope that little stupid thing gets killed in the most horrible way

Maybe you saw it with a mute crowd. All three times I have seen it the humor does work. JJ is no dummy. That thing is there for the younger crowd...sexy Uhura was for me...and Warp Nacells were for the uber'TREK geek folks...all bases were covered..

The humor worked. The turd will be back...I guarentee it. The fact he doesn't go over with you and other trek fans is no suprise at all..in fact..its predictable.

You know... this reminds me of the whole Chewbacca vs an Ewok debate. How are they different? They are both furry creatures that speak an incomprehensible language. They are both warriors. Yet Chewy is loved, and Ewoks are derided. Why?

Because fans are prejudiced against little aliens!

I say, let go of your hate! Embrace Keenser!

LOL...will do.

I guess the underlying question is: Do we want Scotty reduced to a comedy relief character with a comedic sidekick?

To that question, I must answer a resounding "NO".

Yeah, no doubt I'm hoping it doesn't make a return appearance. Scotty on TOS had comedic moments, but I don't believe that's ALL he should be...

The more I think about this character the closer he gets to Jar Jar in my head. Enough with this guy - they are writing Scotty wacky enough as it is, he sure doesn't need a comic sidekick.

The best thing about that little guy was that he was barely in the movie.

If he were entirely gone from the movie, it would be even awesomer.

At first, he was a bit too Star Wars/Ewokish to me. But hey, Scotty needs a straight man/go-to-guy assistant, and why not a craggy little gremlin? -- RR

A gremlin... huh. That's interesting. What if this guy was one? I mean, he's from a race of beings which stow-a-way on ships and mess with the tech. Scotty found him and "drafted him" because of his natural ability with tech?

Or maybe he's an anti-gremlin -- loves fixing things instead of messing them up. A natural engineer, and hence, the kind of sidekick Scotty would love! He reads tech manuals in his sleep with his freaky eyes! -- RR

The moment i saw him wobbling up the hall he gave me an instant Star wars feel. Hense i hated the little shite.

He seemed to have a uniform, is he a pet or an officer?

I picked 'Eh. I could care less', but I couldn't help but laugh at the spacing option.

(Maybe he's an exile from a species that the Founders might have uplifted to being the Jem'Hadar? Plenty of time for the Celestial Temple to have opened while no-one was looking over the last few centuries - time enough for his ancestors to flee the Gamma Quadrant...

...unless, of course, they weren't actually fleeing the Founders at all.)

Maybe.... Just maybe.... He's a gremlin.... or at least the source of our legends...
only scotty brefriended one.

you transport a gremlin along with a tribble over to a enemy ship and soon...
the federation is ruling the galaxie...

:guffaw:
