Scotty's Sidekick

What do you think of Scotty's furry companion?

I would definitely like to see him back. Scotty with a sidekick is pretty cool, as long as they don't make it the focus of everything involving him.

Everyone I saw Star Trek with loved this character and so did I. More please. As long as he doesn't become annoying.

You mean he wasn't?

Look. I don't like cute. I don't like funny sidekicks.

In fact, I abhor them.

Ruthlessly.

He was played by this guy.

Who also played an Ewok in Star Wars. And, the character reminded me of an Ewok. No thanks. He was nothing special to me really.

Geez, don't they have any other little people in Hollywood?

I found the character annoying in a Star Wars kind of way, but easily forgettable.

THINK of the kids..we wall love kids. And if parents bring their kids then guess what...BOX OFFICE baby....

You didn't like it? Well..okay. Thats cool. But my son did...and that was the whole point.

Really liked him. Thought TPTB used great restraint when using him for comic relief. Look forward to seeing him in the sequel.

Some of us remember him best as:

Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

The poll is almost evenly divided. I rarely see this in BBS Trek polls.

7-7-6-7.

A quarter apiece.
Surprised me too. Geeks are not supposed to like things that are cute for cuteness' sake. But then maybe these are not your father's Trekkies.

Yeah, honestly geeks traditionally dislike children and cute things in movies (R2D2 being the exception, since he's tech) - some basic insecurity about their own maturity, IMAO. So this is odd.

But Scotty's Sidekick is neither a child nor a cute thing; he's a Starfleet officer. But he is small and unimposing. As such they see someone they can bully to hide their own insecurity. So it's not that odd. :D

The Peking Homunculus!

God that was an awful episode. I sat up half the night one Saturday watching the whole damned serial, thinking something cool had to happen at some point...but no, just run here, run there, run back here...

Argh! Heresy! That's the best Classic Series story ever!

I didn't mind him too much since his role was kept to a minimum, but I could do without.

I like you Dennis...that is how I see it too. It is no surprise that some of our TREK friends didn't like it. Some of them, and note I say "some", probably saw daylight (if they went in the daytime) for the first time since the new WOW-instance came out weeks ago....breathing the fresh air was good for them...
wink-wink

Argh! Brits are weird! It's one of the worst! I kept thinking that if Davies had done it, it would at least have been funny, and maybe even scary!
