Is the actor choice in itself an indication of how the character will be played? Pegg as mentioned above is great at dead pan, but would that fit the new film? Will it treat Scotty as LOTR treated Gimli?

Ok, im a massive Simon Pegg fan i have most of what he has done; Spaced, Big Train, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz et al but i never in a million years would've cast him as ......

Seriously, i like him, but hes just not suited for the role, physically anyway.
Honestly, i would've loved McGillion to get the role, he at least has a slight resemblance to Doohan, and has a great accent.
I dunno, but we'll have to see. Still not too keen though, well just wait for it to pan out.

If not, im taking this with a little sceptically, as i had only read it in yesterdays Sun Newspaper. Which, as we all know in the UK, is the best source for *cough* legit *cough* entertainment news.
Also seen it on AICN, again, not exactly from the horses mouth but the (Harry Knowels fans stop here) elephants.
Basically, until i see Pegg shooting the movie et al, then ill say its legit.

AICN is far from the rumor-mongering trashy site it started out as. They get things wrong as little or even less often as the legit news organizations. Find me something major from their page recently that turned out to be complete bullshit? A few well-photoshopped hoax pics aren't enough to discredit the entire site. Harry is a fat(and arguably retarded)fan-boy jerk-off, but he built AICN into what it is by knowing the right people to know this stuff.

Pegg's casting was in Variety and Hollywood Reporter. It's too legit to quit. It's real. Hell, it's even on StarTrek.com, Classic Fan.
