Scenes you feel NEED to be in this film...

Dammit all to hell!

Here I am, trying to start a decent, clean, thought-provoking, perhaps even enjoyable thread on Trek XI!

And it goes down in flames faster than the original Enterprise after self-destruct.

Did I mention "dammit?"

\S/

Going back to the original intent of the thread, I want to see/hear some kind of reference to Nancy Crater (or whatever her maiden name was at the time of the relationship) by McCoy.

She obviously had quite an impact on him, based on his actions in The Man Trap.

Wouldn't it be interesting if it turned out that McCoy was having an affair with Nancy and it was that which led to his divorce?

Here's an additional question that begs to be asked: Is McCoy's failed marriage - and offspring from it (Joanna) - canon?

I am aware that "Joanna" was to be a fourth-season episode, but it was never filmed/shown/expanded upon on screen...

Not up on my TAS trivia, but I am of the school of thought that the live action episodes/movies are the end-all be-all.

Perhaps Nancy is the ex-wife (if there really must be one)...again, it was never expanded on in the episode, only that Mrs. Crater was "that one woman" in McCoy's past.

Then again, McCoy would have at the very least expressed SOME interest or mention of the child when in the presence of Nancy (er, the Salt Vampire).

And btw: I do believe Carol Marcus was the "blonde technician" referred to by Gary Mitchell.

^I would like to see some mention of Joanna and McCoy's failed marriage. It always struck me as strange how few of the TOS characters seemed to actually marry and have children (that we know of). I think showing some of that would reveal a side of McCoy we hadn't seen before, although I think we'll be lucky if it gets a passing mention. I get the impression that Kirk's and Spock's backgrounds are going to be the main ones covered, and I doubt they'll have time to delve into too much detail for the other crewmembers.

It also bugs me that Uhura's first name was never canonized. I'd love for someone to refer to her as Nyota.

SCENE inside captain's quarters. CPT. CHRISTOPHER PIKE sits at a desk, looking over some papers. Door signals a visitor. LT. SPOCK enters.

SPOCK

"Lt. Spock, reporting as ordered, sir."

PIKE

"Come in, Lieutenant. At ease. I wanted to personally welcome you aboard the Enterprise. Your previous commander spoke very highly of you. He said that you really raised the bar for his science departments."

SPOCK

"" "Raised the bar', sir?"

PIKE

"At ease, Lieutenant. It's a human expression. It means that you set a very high standard. and yes, it's a compliment."

SPOCK

"I merely did my duty to the best of my abilities."

PIKE

"I'll expect nothing less.
You're Vulcanian, aren't you?'

SPOCK

"We prefer the term 'Vulcan' as opposed to 'Vulcanian' and I am half Vulcan. My mother is human"

PIKE

"Did she ever smile?"

SPOCK

"Sir?"

PIKE

"I assume that if your mother was human, that she smiled occasionally."

SPOCK

"My mother smiled quite often, but as a result of her emotions."

PIKE

"You might try smiling occasionally, yourself, Lieutenant. If you are going to function efficiently with your crew mates, you can help make them more at ease with you if you can adopt a few human mannerisms. Consider it an exercise in logic."

SPOCK

"That is very well reasoned, Captain. I shall attempt it."

PIKE

"Good. One more question...did you hear me say 'at ease' a moment ago?"

SPOCK

"I did, sir."

PIKE

"Why aren't you?"

SPOCK

raises eyebrow "I am."

PIKE

laughs gently "Very well, Lieutenant. You're dismissed."

Heh, I liked your scene wellsweb! It would explain why Spock was acting so emotional during "The Cage". He was trying to follow Pike's suggestion to smile more and adopt more human mannerisms. ;) Spock then later came to his senses though and had mostly stopped that by the time Kirk took command, becoming more confident in following the Vulcan way of living.

A hand to hand fight scene w/Kirk ripped shirt and blood trickle.

The aforementioned Spock/McCoy debate dynamic -- that's sure to bring a smile to most of us.

Scotty and his engines...

Uhura in the mini...

The Enterprise in all her glory...

But the scene I'd like to see most of all, the one I feel needs to be in this film -- a transition scene of Nimoy's Spock as he returns to his time/universe and the new cast on board the bridge of the E. as they set sail for new adventures.

I wouldn't mind seeing one of those patented Kirk out-of-his-ass "corbomite/code two" maneuvers.

Clean, decent? On this board? ;)

I think it's going pretty well. Lots of stuff that we'd like to see.

I, too, would love to hear Bones call Spock a "green blooded son of a bitch".

While they're at it, why don't they just cast every currently living actor who has ever appeared in any incarnation of Star Trek, and include a big ol' bottle of hand lotion with every ticket.

Thank you, Tralah. That was my first attempt at any kind of fan fiction. And you picked up on exactly what I was trying to do. You're obviously a very intelligent individual.
