Scenes from the films not filmed that you would have liked to see?

Phantassm

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I absolutely love Star Trek: The Motion Picture but in the scene where Spock enters the ship and the bridge crew, as well as Chapel and McCoy greet him, I would have loved to see a scene of him and Scotty's first encounter. What was said and how they worked together. Since Scotty was under so much pressure to get the ship going it really would have been nice to see his feelings upon Spock's arrival to help. What about you guys? Any scenes that you would have liked added to the feature films?

In TMP I'd like to have seen Kirk face off against Admiral Nogura.

Was there ever a cut scene featuring Kirk's meeting with Nogura (or for that matter, dialog between Kirk and Ciana other than him stepping off the airtram and leaving her gazing at him?)

the whole story arc about worf and the romulan captain, that were in the novelization of NEM. would've made the movie so much better...

I don't think the Kirk/Nogura scene was ever actually filmed so, no, I don't think it was cut. It's only referenced in the novelization. Pity. We could have had some old style Kirk facing off to get his command back.

The Sulu & his great-great-great...grandfather scene from IV would've been cool.

The scenes explaining Peter Preston was Scotty's nephew would have made the scene where Scotty carries his body up to the bridge make sense (TWOK).

In TMP I would've liked to have seen the whole "drafting" McCoy back into service conversation. I can imagine crabbly ol' McCoy chewin' up that conversation!

Shatner at Star Trek Atlanta in 1977 dropped hints that there would be such a confrontation, and that a big name actor, although not necessarily from Hollywood, would be tapped for the role.

Also, iirc, the admiral's office was actually built for the scene, even though it wasn't used.

Edit: Just checked: Sackett, S., The Making of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, p. 61:
Admiral Kirk and McCoy go to Admiral Nogura's office complex [this set was actually constructed, later struck when not used].

See it's things like that which would have appealed to people who don't want to watch TMP for the music/visuals...IIRC when I read the novelisation I was stunned by how much extra stuff was shoehorned in...then I remembered how little actually happens in the movie...

I'm another one for the Kirk/Nogura scene. It doesn't make sense for McCoy to be there though since he seems surprised that he's even on board the Enterprise.

The scene inside of Sickbay with Kirk, McCoy, and Scott regarding Preston I think explain that he's his nephew. Also doesn't Scotty say "My sister's youngest...eager to get into space." to Kirk who replies "I seem to remember the feeling Mr. Scott."

I would have liked a scene between Preston and Saavik and, although it would have been too gory for the screen, the scenes where Khan tortures the scientists would have been cool.

This was a re-inserted scene when TWOK got it's directors edition.

Don't know where it came from by I recall in the novelisation of Search for Spock, there's a follow up scene with Scotty's sister (who is depicted as holding ranking of Commander in Star Fleet).

The funny thing is, I grew up watching a copy of TWOK that had been taped off of a Fox showing, and it includes the scene about Peter being Scott's nephew. I honestly never thought about that scene not being in other cuts of the movie.

The novelizations of TMP, TFF, and TUC all have a lot of extra elements that I think would look good on film. TFF offers background on the three ambassadors at Nimbus and Sybok, as well as giving tension to the Klingon crew. Klaa won a promotion to captain through his skill as a gunner, and the firing rig he uses in the movie is a special modification. Some of his crew think he's little more than a political favorite.

The TUC novelization has a much better version of the "book scene" where the Enterprise is talking with the Klingon outpost. Chekov states in the film that the UT can't be used because it would be "recognized," whatever that means, but in the novel the conspirators disabled the UT. It's also stated that the Enterprise's photon torpedo system generates a small neutrino surge when it's active, giving context to Chekov's remark that only a ship could generate a field "that large." This gives the reader the question of whether the conspirators are actually able to access the Enterprise's launchers when the attack on the Gorkon occurs.

There was supposed to be an extended prologue at the beginning of Star Trek VI of Kirk going around and reuniting the command crew for one last mission. If done right, it would have been cool.
