Save Vala petition for Vala Mal Doran

Yes because these will always work out wonderfully! How many times have they worked? Zero? That's right.

She will not be in ONE DVD movie, doesn't mean we will never see her again. Jack is supposed to be in this movie a lot, so maybe Vala isn't needed. Maybe whats-her-name wants some time off?

No need to start a petition. She won't be in this one movie, which will focus on other characters, and might have excluded her just because of actress unavailability. But fans will be fans...

Whats-her-name happens to be called Claudia Black. Thanks so much. And can I ask you why you came into a thread clearly entitled "Save Vala" to bash the petition? There are other threads whose very purpose is debating the movies, the characters, etc., this isn't one of them.

It's actually been cleared up that her exclusion from the third movie has nothing to do with the actress's availability and everything to do with the fact that Brad Wright can't, in his expansive imagination, think of a role for her.

A petition is pointless. While we're at it, can we please ditch Mitchell as well? And make it a Jack/Sam/Daniel/Teal'c movie? What a concept!

Hey there, be a dear and look up where I replied to bigdaddy's post? You can take your bashing elsewhere. Thanks ever so.

You don't like freedom of speech and differences of opinion? Then can I kindly suggest you get off the internet, or at least public message boards.

Grow some thicker skin darling, and realise that this isn't Gateworld, full of happy, smiley never-say-a-bad-word-about-Stargate.

My opinion on the Vala situation for the 3rd movie is that I would prefer if she and Mitchell weren't in the film, so we can concentrate on the better cast of characters, the original four. I have as much right to post in here as you do, and neither of our opinions is more important or more valid than the other.

Thanks

I'm all for freedom of speech and differences of opinions, what's left of it in today's world anyway. I also happen to think there's such a thing as an appropriate place to express those opinions. I don't know what in the title of this thread led you to believe someone was asking whether or not you wanted Vala in the movies, especially when this thread creator actually created ANOTHER thread specified exactly for that debate. So before you ask me to leave any place, how about you dig deep to wherever you keep your sense of common courtesy and ask yourself if maybe I might be right.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize this is where bullies and malcontents came to play. I never said you didn't have the right to your opinion or that I thought your's was the wrong one, I only said this wasn't the place. And I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to ask that you move your debate over to the thread that's actually designed for it and leave this one for the people who support this cause.

You're sharing a link to a petition. Anyone who wants to sign it, will sign it, regardless of what's said in here.

I just really don't see, at this late stage in development, how yet another "Save a Stargate character" will help. The writers/producers decided not to include her in the film, she therefore won't be in it, and I think people should accept that and move on. If there's a 4th film, maybe she'll be in that.

I don't really see the point of having two threads on the same subject anyway. Why not just move the petition link to the other thread, and let anyone post on there.

You speak of common courtesy, then start off by posting this:

Hey there, be a dear and look up where I replied to bigdaddy's post? You can take your bashing elsewhere. Thanks ever so.

No need for the attitude.

And what "late stage" is this? BW has just begun writing the script for the third movie, a third movie that doesn't even have a tentative title. The campaign may not change his mind but at least he'll have the concrete proof of how fans don't like his decision. What else do you suggest we do? Bite our tongues and believe that we'll the third movie like you obviously did when Cam and Vala came? I see that's worked out well.

Because, like I said earlier, some people believe in having a time and a place for discussions. It's crazy, I know, but when people want to bitch they don't usually want happy-go-lucky people defending the subject, and vice versa. This is a thread to SAVE Vala, aimed at people who want her in the future movie to show their support. The other thread is a free for all actually asking your opinion. I wouldn't be opposed to the petition link being in the other thread but I don't think it's the place for it since it's a given that around half of the posters there won't support it.

No need for the attitude.

Says the guy who first posts:

Just taking the lead from you.

I'm not quite sure a member who has 3 posts to her name is in any position to start quoting how this board is run. You don't like what people have to say? Tough, it's all on topic, and there's nothing wrong with discussion. What else would you like this thread to be filled with? "ooooh yes!! I just signed :) :) :) :)" like there is on GW?

A petition IS pointless. Nothing rude in my post.

Like you did when Cam and Vala showed up? Obviously a step in the positive direction...

I'm not suggesting anything about how this forum is run. The fact of the matter is that it's NOT on topic. This topic is one that reads "Save Vala", not "Do you think she should be in future movies?" which, by the way, is a thread topic that does exist in this forum. So the fact that you're so hard-bent to go out of your way to bash our attempts, bash characters when there's a thread DESIGNED for that right next door shows me that you have no interest aside from taking people down into whatever twisted angst-hole you live in. So yeah, it's off-topic.

And by the way, thanks for stopping by GW but you were in the wrong thread again, the one you were looking for has a question mark in it.

A petition IS pointless. Nothing rude in my post.

I wouldn't expect you to recognize what rudeness looks like anymore but I'll remind you. Respectfully stating that, in your opinion, a petition might not work but wishing the cause luck anyway is called "being polite." Stating your opinion that we're doomed for failure like it's fact and urging us to give up is called "being rude."

Like you did when Cam and Vala showed up? Obviously a step in the positive direction...

Yep exactly. I heard they were bringing in new characters, obviously waited to see how they fit into the show. Didn't like Mitchell, sort of liked Vala... but regardless, I still accepted them being in the show. Just like I suggest you accept that in 99% all likelihood, Vala won't be in the third movie.

This topic is about the petition to save Vala. I am discussing the petition.

The other topic is a question asking if people want her in the the forthcoming movies.

I agree, Kpnuts. Fans should just accept it like they accepted the loss of Weir, Jonas, Ford...er...oh wait...

Accepting and accepting lying down are two completely different things.

You didn't discuss anything in your first post, you said "it won't work" and "take Cam out too". Aside from your opinion disguised as a rude statement, I don't see much in the way of a discussion.

I had better things to do with my life than start useless online petitions. And anyway, I was disappointed, accepted it, and moved on. The Save Daniel Jackson campaigns, fine... he'd been a big part of the show for 5 years etc... Jonas, I can maybe understand it... but "I support Vala"? She's only missing for a movie for christ sake, can you really not live without Claudia Black for a couple of hours??

Otherwise, in your world, what's there to actually discuss here? It's a link to a petition. I'm discussing the petition. You don't like it, that's online message boards for ya

From my chair, Kpnuts was staying on topic, albeit somewhat secondarily, by discussing the ineffectiveness of online fan-initiated petitions. In this particular Stargate forum, both the pro and the con opinion about the show(s) are accepted, and for the most part people handle it pretty well. However, I strongly suggest folks move on away from the debate about the usefulness of online petitions in general.

Milena D., don't misunderstand me. I am a science fiction fan and have been very disappointed when certain shows or characters were dropped. I can empathize with those who like the character of Vala, my being a fan of Claudia Black's in the first place. However, listen to what bigdaddy says in his original post. This is just one single DVD movie that the character will not be in. There's no reason to assume that because she isn't in this one, that it means she won't be in future ones.

HOw about a bit of a compromise. Try including a link to the petition in your signature on this board. That would get it a bit more exposure.

I dunno, I don't think Claudia Black or Ben Browder are being well served on SG-1. I'd prefer them not to do any future SG-1 movies and instead see them on more original and interesting sci fi (and not together either - that's getting old).
