there does not seem to be a BBC 1 airing of the episodes this year, which is disappointing.

Looks like there might be a repeat on Saturday afternoon, but Digiguide does not say which episodes they are.

*Ace* Bhatti? Seems a natural for the Whoverse.

And will Daniel Anthony be playing the android OP3-C? Inquiring minds want to know...

Daniel Anthony plays Clyde, has done ever since the first series, Ace Bhatti plays Ranis Dad.

^ Ah well, lame jokes anyway. I'm not very into the show but I would've thought I'd have picked up Clyde's actor's name over the years.

I am kind of curious this series with it being Lis's final and all, I did enjoy some of the shows last year.

It is really hard to know what they are going to be able to do with Sarah Jane this series, plenty of times last series she was noticeably sat down, whilst the other characters did the action stuff. I suspect we will see more of of that.

Im not sure this series will give us the big goodbye that fan may be hoping for and I dont think the finale will be a better ending than "Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith" would have been.

The mor eI think about it, the more I'd like to see the show just end. Liz may be gone, but it would be nice to think that Sarah Jane just goes on with her adventures.

^ How would people feel about new book adventures w/Sarah Jane?

It's odd but while Doctor Who and Torchwood have had a number of original novels published, for Sarah Jane all that's been done are about a dozen novelisations, and even they stopped last year and were replaced by e-book novelisations. There have been some exclusive-to-audio stories - in fact a couple are coming out after Series 5 ends. I'm sure Sarah Jane will appear in a DW novel again now that BBC Books is soon to go back into the Past Doctors business, but it is odd that there seems to be no interest in original SJA literature, especially since its Target audience is the Harry Potter crowd.

Meanwhile, the BBC has released publicity photos and a trailer for the first story of the final season. Looks like they might be adding a new regular for the final stretch:

Lis certainly looks well in these photos (remembering this story and the two others were made during the same production period as Series 4).

You have to feel bad for the new girl. She scores a part in a popular show, only to have it shut down halfway throuhg the series.

I agree. Incidentally, the BBC has released its official "press pack" for the new season, confirming that Sinead Michael is joining the cast as a character named Sky.

If it's true that the powers-that-be were aware of Sladen's condition (hence the decision to film part of Series 5 in advance), one has to wonder if Sinead was given an indication that she'd likely only be appearing for a few episodes. Mind you, we don't know what the character arc for her was going to be. As I understand it, one of the stories that was completed is in fact the planned season finale (again, there had to be some thought given to filming the season ending in advance, just in case) so it's possible Sky was only ever going to be a temporary character. We'll see. It's gonna be a tough couple of episodes to watch, I imagine.

I don't recognize the actress. I did a look on IMDb and according to that she's been doing TV since 2005 (the IMDb doesn't have 100% track record, but her name isn't like Jane Smith so it's probably her). Her biggest credit to date was a role in Clash of the Titans.

Sky
Part 1

Whilst it was good to Elisabeth Sladen play an active role in the episode, I thought the pace was slow, and nuclear power plant setting lacked a "Eldred Must Live" reference, that said the shoulders on the metal man, did remind me of those on the K1 Robot*

Moving on, the blonde lady does remind me of someone, but im going to need to look that up, couldn't place her.

* get me with my classic series references

I haven't seen it yet. Recorded it, intending to record it tomorrow and then watch both halves in one go.

Not much to say really. Good entertaining little episode. Nicely done Metalkind costume. and props to the writer or director who realized that most of us would get a Terminator vibe off this and threw in the "Come with me if you want to live." line.

And good lord, Rani (in the opener) looks even cuter with glasses.

In other news, scientists are silly. "Zap, zap."

Up to its usual standard, one niggle, that bloody scarf Luke has to wear to show he's a student.

the 2nd part was better, but that is nearly always the case with 2 parters.

However I do find the idea that Sarah Jane needs a time travelling alien in her life, amusing, she already has the Doctor for that.

Sky cleary being set up as the new Luke, that will be good for Rani, who can be overshadowed by Cylde sometimes.

Back to part 1, you can tell this is a BBC production by the idea that the tramp wants to listen to the Archers, I only hope he has a Digital Radio, so he can hear Ambridge Extra on Radio 4 Extra ;)

Ah Floella Benjamin, she is something of a legend to those of us of a certain age, but not the greatest actress in the world.

I liked it, shame Sarah Jane didn't drop a mention about having a bad experience in a nuclear power station once, and I'm not sure why the show needs a genetically enhanced super alien child either but Sky is amusing.

I did like Miss Myles (spelt the alien way.)

Clyde as always best thing about it!

So just two more stories to go then? :(

And Pindar, yeah Luke's stu-dant look is a trifle annoying!

And it was good to see the Captain and his pet human again. :)

You know its a shame the show doesn't get more attention from fans. I think those two and the Trickster are just as good as anything NuWho has come up with. And lord knows SJA captures the spirit of the classic series much more than Torchwood.

Yeah, and again they did a very good job realising the metalkind, same as the red/yellow bots from last year were nicely done.

Given the choice I'd rather watch SJA than Torchwood. As a spinoff I think it's much more in keeping with the ethos of the parent show.
