Salvation (new tv show about an asteroid)

Just watched the finale. If that was indeed the end, I think I'll assume that approximately 3 seconds after the credits started rolling, Darius and Liam got annihilated in a nuclear holocaust, and everybody else launched to Mars a few weeks later.

That said, they definitely left it open for a second season, specifically with the evil coup-president escaping there at the end. He's up to no good I tell ya.

And yeah, I'd be pretty pissed if I was Liam's girlfiend at the way he deserted her. Did he really have to run all the way to Darius in person? Just open the door, text "magnets", and then go back downstairs.

Now I can watch the final 2 episodes in peace. But i'll probably keep them on the DVR until right before season 2 starts and then watch them.

Show was ok, but found myself rooting for the end of the world, so weird spot to be in. Wanted it to secretly be a space survival series, and have just used the first episodes to trick people into watching. Disappointed when the ship didn't launch...

I hope Darius left an operating manual somewhere, since it doesn't seem as if there are any actual astronauts in that group who would know how to fly it. And of course not one of the civilians there would have had any training whatsoever.

I would have assumed there was a TESS backup in there somewhere that would handle most of that. I didn't like the reasoning behind his not going with the group, though. Yeah, it's gonna suck for him and go downhill at some point soon. Noted. But the amount of good he could accomplish in the founding years of the colony would far outweigh the negatives of later on. Guess he's taking up one healthy spot, but if he goes in knowing that, and doesn't reproduce to pass it along anyway, there way more he could do to ensure success of the colony being the engineering super-genius and all. When it hits him too badly, he can deal with the situation then, and take a walk without a space suit if it's a matter of wasting resources.

Pretty disappointed that the season didn't end with the ship in the air; it really should have been a backdoor space pilot. Sort of 160-person version of The Martian, without the rescue bit...

Will be interesting to see where this goes... I wonder if the cast and crew are as surprised as we are that there's a second season on tap. LOL.. Especially since the actor who plays the Sec Def is now a regular on Hawaii 5-0...

Since Grace was obviously intended to end up with Darius, it doesn't really matter, does it?

I liked some of the Tom Clancy-esque nail-biters, like when the Russian missile subs parked off the coast of Florida shoot down the F̶a̶l̶c̶o̶n̶H̶e̶a̶v̶y̶ Goliath-II as it's lifting off the launch pad carrying the EMdrive.

Speaking of the EMdrive, that's pretty hip with all the space nerds these days. First time I've seen a show pluck an idea fresh from the masses like that. And I suppose Elon Musk's Mars rocket is another idea that's inspired the show.

I stopped watching after that episode where Darius was kicked out of his company by his Uncle and everything. So I need catch up.

What happened after that? The evil mastermind behind everything was really the VP, right? He was behind Resist, the killings, and he wanted to use the asteroid to destroy Russia?

What happened to Darius' Uncle and everything?

Okay, I just got caught up on the first 2 episodes of season 2. I think the 3rd airs later tonight.

Does this even count as a sci-fi show anymore? They seem to be setting up various side characters left and right, so much so that I'm worried that there will be no asteroid resolution yet again this season. If they're going to spend multiple scenes over the next few episodes with Claire's brother and with various cat and mouse games with the ex-VP, there's a chance they'll try to drag this out to a third season. Have there been any interviews with showrunners that indicate any sort of resolution coming up this summer?

I don't even remember who Claire is. And at this point I don't even care.

It's like they had this great idea for a NBC disaster 90s TV movie and now have somehow stretched it into 2 seasons with no end in sight.

Still disappointed that this didn’t pivot into a space colonization show. That’s what I’d like to see, launch the ship!
Same here. It's so stupid, what they're doing now... Earth is about to be wiped out, and they're still arguing over who gets to be president.

Sadly, that's probably how it would happen if this were RL.

The worst bit is that Resist has based their operations at Tanz HQ. Seriously, as if Tanz couldn't have put all sorts of super duper spy equipment in the ventilation shafts or whatnot.

When does the new season start?

Whoops.. Nevermind.. I see it already has.. I guess I've been watching too much soccer! LOL

You haven't missed much. I have no idea wtf is going on at this point, and I've been watching it.
