Netflix shareholders voted over 71% to reject top executives pay raises and compensation packages brought forth at a recent quarterly profits meeting.
Maybe shareholders are finally waking up to the fact that executives get paid way too much?

Just an account on why unions often enough are absolutely necessary and why people even died for being in one 100 years ago - you let companies off the hook and don't give them rules on how to deal with their employees this is what happens. Best wishes for the VFX people to improve their lives and return to a work environment that won't burn them out.

He better not be. Being a scab is about the worst thing you can do in any unionized profession- he'll make lifelong enemies of most of his peers and be blacklisted everywhere he goes. It's a lot worse than drinking Jobu's rum. Scabs in aviation are treated like pariahs. Some airline captains keep lists specifically to deny jumpseat privileges to pilots who scabbed decades ago.

Previous events were all live and the press release specifies "Will host" and mentions games for viewers which would require some live elements at least. I'm sure someone will clarify before it happens.

Game shows are recorded in advance of their broadcast. I don't think this will be any different.

Game shows with in house contestants, not audience games. Can't have audience participation pre recorded.

Like I said, I'm sure they'll specify before it airs if its live or not, or O'Connell is pre recorded and stuff like the audience games are live with no host. We'll see.

Edit: Screen Rant has put up an article that the event is pre-recorded due to the strike and other places, such as Trek movie, have changed the tense in their articles to "has produced" the special. Screen Rant isn't exactly a prime source but looking more and more elike it is all pre recorded, I expect some better sources will confirm soon.

In previous years, Star Trek Day has been an in-person gala with a red carpet and a live program, but the continuing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes means the actors and creatives who make Star Trek TV shows and movies possible can't participate in this year's celebration. Instead, Paramount Global has shifted to programs that honor Star Trek TV's series through streaming, broadcast television, and special theatrical fan events.

What a shock.

I mean, I'm surprised it took them this long. The AMPTP has been badly losing the messaging battle, especially with all the leaks that are clearly being fed to the trades from the producers' / studios' side. Pro tip, y'all: If negotiations break down, it's probably not the best look to release a carefully crafted, obviously pre-written press release 15 - 20 minutes after the meeting ends. It basically tells the world you aren't negotiating in good faith.

Bear in mind that sites like TVLine, Deadline, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are all owned by Penske Media Corporation, which has been in the bag for the studios since long before the guilds went on strike (ostensibly to preserve access for their writers when productions resume).
