"Sacrifice of Angels" Question

The premise of collapsing the worm hole was introduced in the episode The Search Part II; and it was all a dream induced by the Founders. So it is possible that collapsing the worm hole is only possible by the Prophets or Pah Wraith's.

If that is the case, then Sisko had no choice but to go into the worm hole.

That the Prophets destroyed the Dominion fleet was done by the pleas made by Sisko. He won them over

I would also assume that since no second, equal or larger sized fleet, Dominion fleet attempted to cross the worm hole could mean that the Prophets denied the Dominion access to it.

That make any sense?

yes this idea was established in the search part 2

but gotten rid of in by inferno's light

where the dominion sabatoged (sp) the station's phaser array to make the worm hole stronger, it was said not even trilithium explosives (or something along those lines) wouldnt even destroy it now (one assumes, the explosive they were referring to is stronger than phasers or quantum torpedoes

so sisko was definately targetting the dominion ships, hoping to catch them unexpected with shields down and take out 10 or so

out of 4,000 dominion ships, that is insignificant

4000? I thought it was 2800.

The idea is to go down fighting, not cut and run. A first strike- do what you can against impossible odds, mirroring Statistical Probabilities- if the Dominion won, eventually the Federation people would rise again, and they should be able to look at these battles as examples of bravery, not cowardice.

The Prophets did indeed deny the Dominion access to the wormhole.

Dukat's plan in "Tears of the Prophets" was to use the Pah-Wraiths to destroy the Prophets so nobody could stop them from using the wormhole. This backfired massively because it caused the wormhole to be closed completely.

Oh, and it was 2,800 ships inside the wormhole with a further 1,254 between the Allied fleet and Bajor.

Well, I had problems with it. True it happened, but the reason for doing so was weak. Sure, they did not want Sisko to die so they destroyed over 2,800 ships with all the crew. Anyway, with all the times that Sisko could have been killed nothing happened. With helping to destroy the fleet, did that not alter history would be played out.

^As far as us linear lifeforms are concerned, history hadn't played out yet.

They warned Sisko there would be consequences and they were right. Removing the fleet caused DS9 to fall back in to Federation hands. This defeat finally made Dukat snap and we all know what happened to Jadzia, amongst others, as a result of that.

Morally, the Prophets probably just weighed the crews of those 2,800 ships against the billions of lives on the planet they claim to be "of" and the possibility of billions of deaths as the war carried on.

^^ And lets face it, weren't most of us waiting for them to do something to help?

The Prophets might not have destroyed the ships, they might have just sent them somewhere else. Wouldn't it be fun if they were sent to the Delta Quadrant and Voyager ran into them? Talk about an awkward situation.
