Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

Spearhead follows on from where ‘7B’ would fit.
Parting of the ways is all about ‘the power of the Tardis’
Which is what led to the birth of the basically-a-time-lord River Song as featured in Good Man Goes To War etc, which also features the Doctors crib (from when he was a baby…) but which may have also been used for his kids, or for Susan.
The idea of children being conceived in the Vortex (possibly by certain species) would certainly be in keeping with various aspects of this season, not least of which is Ruby herself, and could tweak at the edges of the TC stuff just enough to bring it into line with the rest of the series more.
As indeed could the fact that River is a sort of paradox loop of a person (who can only exist because she exists…) or essentially a ‘complex space time event’.
‘Children of Time’ essentially, rather than a timeless child, which just tweaks enough at the edges of things like gods and what have you, or even with things from the Pertwee era like Chronovores.
Whether or not this kind of thinking is where RTD is going (probably after a pint with Moff) is unlikely, but not impossible.
Edit: oh, and Bells of St.John which has some interesting possibilities as it’s a bit of time Lord manipulation too (Missy setting up the Doctor with Clara, who *becomes* a complex space time event/paradox) setting up the Doctor hiding in churches — though that’s commonplace enough in Who — and a universe the Doctor has/is manipulating into forgetting all about him.
Of course RTD could be using none of this, and goodness knows I don’t have much faith in his writing these days anyway.

Hmm.

The Church (from AGMGTW and other stories) was the organisation that orchestrated River.

"The Church, on Ruby rode". Is she their latest harbinger?

Random whiskey thoughts, don't take seriously unless you want to.

It was only part of it wasn’t it?
Because the Anglican Marines also fought for the Doctor, and prosecuted River for his death, and he was rather close to Tasha Lem, head of the Papal Mainframe?
I’m fuzzy on the details.

Kovarian's group were a splinter sect, allied with the Silence. They broke off due to the 900 years fighting to keep Trenzalore safe, thinking if they killed the Doctor then the whole purpose of that battle (preventing him speaking his true name at Trenzalore) would be moot.

Ta. Thought it would be an ecumenical matter…

The last god of the pantheon, after the Toymaker and the Maestro and whoever RTD has coming up, will be the Canonkeeper, who will arrive to determine the Doctor's true past, ruling on pre-Morbius, Timeless Child, half human on his mother's side, Merlin, War Doctor, Shalka Doctor, etc. He (and of course it will be a he; I haven't seen a lot of women lose their shit in canon thrashes) will be defeated when he tries to make sense of it all because the Doctor is the god of temporal chaos and all of it is true.

RTD's five adventures to revisit before the finale are:

Spearhead from Space
Bad Wolf / Parting of the Ways
The Bells of Saint John
A Good Man Goes to War
The Church on Ruby Road

Important to add that he says only two of these have plot points related to the finale, the other three are more thematic. Obviously Ruby Road is one and since we already knew there was some 3rd Doctor connection SFS is probably the other.

So Susan Triad is an Auton?

You clearly haven’t been in some fandoms xD

That's potentially very promising...

...assuming the writer of the article actually understands what Gaiman is all about.

Leaning heavily on past stories can go either way, so I'll remain cautiously optimistic on that point.

Well, the baddies the Tardis then I guess. As is Susan Twist. Probably. Or not. Guess the old girl didn’t accept the apology.

I know it's mostly spin but Russell says everyone is happy with the ratings the series is getting, particularly with the under-30 age group, which he was apparently asked to make the series more attractive to. (Hence Gatwa instead of Capaldi Mk II presumably.)

On the positive front tThe Live +28 numbers have continued to grow, with Episode 1 adding another 1.6 million over the Live +7.
