Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

It's nice that they're doing these. I think as character moments they'll be touching and memorable. No doubt they were inspired by those types of moments between classic characters in Whitaker's finale, which I felt were the strongest parts of that story.

Well, I guess the people who thought the best thing to do with Whitaker's Tardis would have been to set it on fire got their wish!

And now we know what the mystery six day project was...

Tales of the TARDIS, a series of minisode/documentaries where classic Doctors and companions meet in-character to discuss past adventures

BBC - Tales of the Tardis - Episode guide
Hell, yeah! This sounds and looks amazing. I cannot wait! :D :D :D

More photos in the official Twitter post (of Clyde, Jo, Steven, and Vicki).

Looks like the Tales of the TARDIS will only be available in the U.K. and on iplayer in the short term at least, according to comments by RTD https://www.instagram.com/p/CzCQUelt9ci/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
That's some bullshit. There's zero reason these shorts can't be made available on YouTube and/or Twitter at the same time.

It’s very close to the box set trailers than inspired those in the first place. This will be the third (or fourth) Pinstriped Ace tale technically.

I've seen the main six photos pop up all over social media and news articles, but I've only seen this one here. Where did you find it?

(And if I'm still on ignore, can someone else ask?)

This article says that it's new footage interwoven with the classic episodes to create feature-length omnibus versions, which would track with each one being about 1.5 hours (though that would suggest some rather severe editing).

It’s reminding me a little of (a) the cut down digest the who channel has on YouTube of classic stories and (b) that time they repeated Evil Of The Dalek… at least I think it was that… with framing narration of The Second Doctor using the Telepathy Circuits and whatnot to show Zoe one of he and Jamie’s previous adventures.

It was indeed The Evil of the Daleks.

This also reminds me of BBC America's omnibus reruns for the 50th anniversary though I'm pretty sure those were unedited aside from chopping the credits and cliffhangers. If these are indeed 1.5 hours including the new footage, it sounds like they're making more substantial edits than BBC America did.

Eh, not really that severe. If it's a four parter, all they'd need to do is remove the credit sequences with the exception of the opening credits in Part 1 and the closing credits in Part 4 and not repeating the cliffhanger scenes and paring it down to an hour and a half would be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Is it possible also, I wonder, that they will edit the episodes down only to scenes that the POV characters could have seen or recalled?
They will likely cut out all of the long and drawn out ‘walking down styrofoam corridor’ scenes and all of the other pointlessly long non essential segments of the episodes.

Or the old Shada VHS, only presumably staying in character more consistently than old Tom does there.
