Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

The whole series renumbering thing kind of makes me crazy. On the one hand, it's bad enough differentiating between the classic series and new series sometimes and this just adds a whole 'nother level. On the other hand, calling the 2005 series "Season 27" also makes me crazy, so...I don't know where I land on this.

I mean, he's not going to come round to your home and force you to call it Season 1.

Just do it the old way, the Hartnel era, Troughton era, Pertwee era, Baker Era.........and so on, that is how we did it before the internet. ;)

A shame about no Fourth Doctor and super awkward for Matthew. Especially since he, following Janet's footsteps, has more openly embrace Whodom and doing Big Finish regularly now.

Sadly, given Tom's age and health it's not a surprise. Just a shame we couldn't get something with the companions at least.
I’m sort of hoping the reason he isn’t in it is because he’s making a surprise cameo in the specials. But more realistically, given his age etc, it’s likely that Day of the Doctor is/was his televised DW swansong.

Which is fine with me because that was a beautiful swan song.

Plus, all of the Big Finish audio plays he's done (but regrettably, as he as noted, after Lis' and Nick's deaths).

* sigh *

The stupidity is strong within the DW fandom right now, between words being misused and people having unnecessary freak-outs about something that is most likely internal only and means nothing one way or the other.

There'll be a minisode called "Born Again… Again!" during 'Children In Need' on the 17th. It will have it's own episode of making-of show "Doctor Who: Unleashed" as well.

It looks like this might introduce the new TARDIS.

Covers for the novelisations. Have to say I'm not a fan of the fake-Chris Achilleos style. You're trying to imitate a master so you're always going to come up short.

Oddly the ebooks will be out the week after the episode airs but the physical books won't be out until January and the audiobooks until February.
