Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

Start your guessing...

I've no doubt that Russell's having a laugh but I can't help but notice the last one is a penguin. Or a shape shifting alien who looks like a penguin...

And if he was serious the first one is probably the Cloister Bell.

I mean, if he's reaching into comics like The Star Beast then why not Frobisher?

I think Disney would be well up for having a CGI Penguin character onboard. Could have a Baby Grogu type effect and give them a nice opportunity for merchandising, while pleasing fans at the same time.

could be an issue with getting the rights but you'd think that the creator of Frobisher would be happy for a nice little pay day.

I mean if Big Finish could use him for a couple of audios surely the mouse/Bad Wolf would be to reach an agreement.

OT but with a Who connection. If people are wondering why the strikes are happening, Rachel Talalay has your answer.

TIL directors get residuals too.

That's a pretty good justification for dropping lower-performing series from streaming, though. Spending $0.50 to send out a $0.02 check is just bonkers.

A nice little pay check would be welcome I imagine. If John Ridgeway/Steve Parkhouse are still alive?

Or would the rights fall under the purview of DWM?

Doctor Who is such a complicated show in terms of various rights.

It could be more than a little pay check actually. If Frobisher was merchandised as plushies/t-shirts whatever then it could be relatively lucrative.

Kids love Penguins and... well, I say this as a grown 44 year old man... I'd buy a Frobisher plushie. It's an item of DW merchandise I never imagined could exist, but now I want one. I want one.

WANT!

So, seriously, what do [you] actors (crew, etc) do with a bequest like that? Save 'em up until you have enough to get some change?

Alive and still working. Steve Parkhouse co-created 'Resident Alien' and is still drawing it today. Ridgeway recently drew an 'Omega' series for Cutaway Comics, the company that produces DW spin-offs featuring characters owned by their creators rather than the BBC.

Good to hear and I’ll check that out. I still think John Ridgeway is the definitive Doctor Who comics artist (with Lee Sullivan and Martin Geraghty coming close).
