Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

That would be a great one-off gag for one episode before The Fourteenth Doctor decides to go with something else. Not sure how practical and costly that would be, but it would be great to see happen.
I can see it maybe working as the option we get just before the actual console room is introduced. That is, they show the actual console room, but covered in leopard print just before the Doctor says "mmm, not quite" then flips a switch and we see the console room in its proper look.

I'm sure they could do a rough and ready CG version that flickers on screen for a few minutes.

Heck it's possible that outside of the central console and the doors the new console room might be predominantly virtual. Damn thing could look like a cathedral if they're really going with Mandalorian level effects.

Yeah, that's the idea I was thinking of. Just a question of whether they could afford such a presentation. Certainly couldn't do
The Mandalorian technique (blanking on the name of the technology they use).

Virtual production. There's a short video showing the stage they built for Discovery:

It would be cool if they used something like that for the Tardis, maybe one day if the LED walls become cheaper.

If the letter is real, it might suggest UNIT are back. Not guaranteed - could be an invading force - but sounds more like Earth military. I'm assuming RTD will set his first story in the present day as I don't think he'll budge from his "the companion has to represent the audience" stance. Though he might break the one companion rule this time out for real rather than the short "Jack joins the crew for three eps then dies" or "Mickey goes on a trip for an ep" stuff we got in S1, or Martha returning for a few stories in S4.

Well we can now say with a large degree of certainty that we'll know who the next Doctor is by the 3rd of June at the latest.

It also looks like the Sony money is being put to good use. I don't remember them doing a shoot of this length and scale before; they're normally in and out in a night or two tops.

Sounds like it's going to suck for the people living there though.

"we require on A_______ Road"

?

I don't think it's Abbey Road but it's certainly some road

I have mixed feelings about that idea. While I was all for having "TARDIS teams" be more of a thing as opposed to just the Doctor and one companion, mostly based on the excellent TARDIS team in Capaldi's final season with the Doctor, Bill, Nardole and for the last few episodes, Missy, the Chibnall era has proven it can be difficult to juggle around so many companions.

Much as the Fifth Doctor Tegan Nyssa and Turlough will always have a special place in my heart, I think routinely week by week Doctor Who works best with either a single companion, or at most two.

While I did enjoy Bill/Nardole/Missy that wasn't every episode, in fact most of series 10 just has the Doctor and Bill.

Chibnall juggling Yaz, Ryan and Graham was just way too much, there's a limited number of episodes where that really worked. Someone always got side-lined (usually Yaz, much like Nyssa back in the day)

Has it ever worked consistently? Right from the start Susan was often excluded or side-lined?

There's a second, un-redacted version of the letter up on Twitter now so it's no longer a secret.
Man, I didn't think I'd ever get to know if I was right! Turns out that I had figured out the right one. What I did was look up a list of streets in Cardiff that started in 'A' and ended in 'er' and there was only one that matched.

Neat video from last month explain/showing how each Doctor actor was announced
