Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I'm kind of starting to wonder if Billie Piper's appearance will end up just being a few second cameo before her face shifts a second time into whoever the full time 16th Doctor will be.
And yet for the only time in 60-ish years you won't find a single statement to that fact from the BBC or anyone else involved in making the show.

Plus she said she's only back for a one-off appearance.
I don't take that kind of shit seriously, because they like to screw with people. The Doctor regenerated into her, so she is The Doctor, it's just a matter of why and for how long. I guess this could be a situation like The War Doctor where she's disowned and not included in the count, but even then she's still technically The Doctor.

I genuinely hope that isn't the case cause I hate not only the idea the Doctor regenerated into Rose, but that he would regenerate into any of his former companions period.

But mostly hate the idea of Rose as the Doctor. Just, no.

Unless she is Rose. :shifty:
Since the regeneration was done to fix reality, perhaps the energy pulled Rose through space and time, and the real sixteenth Doctor is now wherever Rose was. They swapped places, and we get the Rose spin-off the Rusty wanted to do fifteen-ish years ago.

DWM did something similar in the 90s when the eighth Doctor regenerated into Nick Briggs. He didn't, really. There were shenanigans going on.

Rose: The Hunt For The Doctor! A journey through time and space.

This makes perfect sense. RTD ALWAYS loved Rose. He mentions MANY times in his book.
Now we have to see how this new Doctor is compared to Rose. It's still the Doctor but in a new package.

I feel a little bad now. I did not like Gnuti Doctor at all in his first season. Most of it probably do to writing.
This year he was far better and my head doesn't hurt anymore from being hit with RTD's baseball bat.

(Assuming it ever comes back.)
Please stop. Just let people who enjoy this show continue to enjoy it and speculate about its future without your doom and gloom.

Source please.
Careful. He puts people on ignore for asking for sources.

I've been rolling that one in my head, too, but I think it's more likely she'll appear for a full episode and then regenerate again. Assuming this is even a full incarnation. I like the idea mentioned in the review thread that there's some shenanigans going on with the Heart of the TARIDS.

If it is that or even not my guess is all of this will be explored in the radio dramas. Then whoever becomes to new showrunner when the series is rebooted at some point can start off with the new Doctor being whoever they choose for the role. Or maybe they will just have in the first few minutes to kill her like with McCoy and then turn into the new Doctor. Though is also possible we will see her as the Doctor but the main Doctor will be from the second Tennant Doctor regenerating. Which might be the best. Might be interesting to follow a new Doctor who has been living on Earth for decades and not out their exploring space so this will be his first adventures in a very long time.

I'm still torn about Ncuti. I think he's made a fantastic Doctor but I still wonder if it was worth all the faff and bending over backwards for someone who was never going to stick around and who'd still require a Doctor lite episode even in an 8 episode season (and if you count Dot and Bubble two lite episodes).

Who knows, maybe "the other guy" wouldn't have stuck around either?

Ncuti was probably a requirement hire to get Davies to sign on board but I don't think either of them wanted to be with Who for long. I think Davies just wanted to save it from being cancelled after the Chibnall era failed to excite people and he also saw it as a chance to explore social issues with the show with a level of freedom he didn't have during his first tenure but I still think he knew also he would want to move on soon and Ncuti also wanted to go do movies and not be a long time Doctor.

Triggered by a comment I saw elsewhere, the only desperation in play in this situation is that of people who will seize on anything that they can (including an attempt by the people involved in the show to keep some secrets about the future narrative) to ignore the obvious, which is that, whatever opinions you might have about the decision notwithstanding, Billie Piper is the Sixteenth Doctor.

So this image was accidentally used by Disney+ as the splash screen for Wish World briefly. That scene obviously didnt appear in Wish World, it was also not in the finale or any other episode this season.

Where is it from? A deleted scene? One person online is claiming they heard from ‘insiders’ that it’s from an alt-ending shot for the season finale if Ncuti had decided to stay.
