News RUMOR: Whittaker potentially leaving

Bishop was busy till the Vid cleared up his schedule. So he was able to do it, so I'll bet good money he's a 1 and done unless the Vid keeps him free.

Doubt JMS would get the gig, but would be interesting

B5 cast ?

Andreas Katsulas, Peter Jurasik and Stephen Furst were outstanding.

Mira Furlan, Talia Winters, Bill Mumy, Richard Biggs and Mary Kay Adams were O.K. to greater or lesser extents.

Michael O'Hare, Bruce Boxleitner, Tracy Scoggins,
Claudia Christian, Jerry Doyle, Jeff Conaway and I'm sure a number of others were...not.

Adrian Lester as the Doctor. See if Pheobe Waller Bridge is up for a single season as companion

Quite frankly if you can get PWB then you either need to cast her as the Doctor or make her show runner, anything else is a waste.

I really don't see either Mandip or John leaving (especially John, since he just joined the series), regardless of who the new Showrunner and Doctor end up being.

They'll both go.

Ultimately it will be up to the next showrunner if they want any carry-over companions or a blank slate. Every modern showrunner has started with a blank slate of new Doctor and new companions when they started. As of this season, Mandip Gill will be the first of the modern companions to have done three full seasons, that means she'll have been with the show longer than any of the modern Doctors. I'll be very surprised if this isn't her last season.

As for John Bishop, so what if he's just starting? Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas joined the show for Capaldi and Moffat's final season, which turned out to be their only one. Even in the RTD era, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate were only single season companions. To say nothing of Eccleston being a single season Doctor. I'm pretty certain Bishop is also gone after this season.

We don't know Yaz will complete three seasons though ;)

And in terms of screen time she'll still be in fewer episodes than Billie (31) Karen (34) or Jenna (37). She should make 30 episodes (assuming she isn't killed or leaves at the end of the six this year) which is obviously way fewer than Tennant, Smith or Capaldi as as they all did at least 40.

I think that's unfair even the less technically proficient actors were perfect in their roles. Hard to imagine someone else playing Ivanovna or Garibaldi or Sheridan (I'd probably shunt Furlan into the outstanding category as well while we're at it)

I disagree.

I enjoyed B5 (and I really did), despite O'Hare, Boxleitner, Christian, Doyle, and Co. but some of them made it...difficult.

I worked on the assumption that PWB was only available due to Covid based slumming it for one season. Like Bishop. Something to say ‘I did Who.’ Also, it wasn’t entirely serious, increasingly so as my ‘suggestion’ went on lol.

Though I stand by Adrian Lester as the Doctor.

I doubt Bishop will carry over to the new regime.

It would be good to see a previous companion return with the new Doctor though.

Not Rose or (shudder) Donna, Amy is as unaffordable as Sally Sparrow, but Martha would be a really good call.

JMS is a name i'd be interested in. I'm not sure how he would go together with Doctor Who, would he do a full reboot like his proposed Star Trek series? What would he do I wonder. Even if it didn't blow me away I would stick around because I know he has a plan. He would tell a story that would be epic.

Now bring back Donna as the next Doctor or the 8th Doctor. Or have the 8th Doctor lose his memory and Donna takes the Doctor's place while 8th plays the role of companion.

No.

For the love of all that's right and decent, no more Donna - ever !

Please...

A series with Eight would be great though, for the big 60th !

Even going back to season 7, something like that happened, though in that case Derick Sherwin was involved in the changes to the color era before the handover to Letts.
Thanks for that. I was too lazy to go back and look, but I figured that wasn't the case in the early days.

I don't know about JMS, but the Beeb really DO need to get someone new and outside the usual BBC producer hierarchy to get on this property before it's gone back into dormancy. I think a new set of eyes would be great at this point. The fans are speaking with their feet if I read the ratings correctly. More off the old sci-fi stuff and less of the in-your-face pc progressivism.

That happened in audio land.

An 8th Doctor Companion, Charlotte Pollard, through misadventure, wound up travelling with the 6th Doctor, for a few years, and had to keep their previous friendship a big secret, which was very difficult.

Web of time.
