Rumor: TNG-HD is a-coming

The suggested retail price might be $30, but I doubt it will sell at that price in any stores. I'm looking forward to this, although I won't buy it, since I'm content to wait for the season sets.

Should come out at around fifteen bucks. I'll pick it up to see Encounter at Farpoint.

Of course you will...

And it'll probably retail $19.99-$29.99. I would spend just about any amount to get them, so it doesn't matter to me.

Encounter at Farpoint is the only thing there that really interests me here. I'm burnt out on Ron Moore's over-wrought Klingons and The Inner Light has never done anything for me.

I'd have rather seen A Matter of Honor and something like The Wounded or Ensign Ro.

As for price point... Paramount releases "Best of..." editions for both TNG and TOS at $9.99 and they quickly went to the five dollar bin at Wal-Mart. I think the days of Paramount over charging for the sixth re-release of material is over. TOS full season Blu-Ray sets came out @ $64.99 after the series was released originally for $129.99 per season on DVD.

A single Blu-ray release may retail for $20, but no way they retail for $30.

Reunion may be the pinnacle along with Redemption I, but they probably wouldn't have worked as a single Klingon story. You could take Sins of the Father a single episode if you were a non-fan. Either way both episodes are light years better than Encounter.

Most DVD-Blurays that have 4 episodes sell in the $20-30 range when they come out (currently the best of collections are $14.98 retail). No doubt there will be discounts, but this is not just a re-release, its an entire reworking...a totally new edit since there are no film masters. They'll prob treat it like a new show so expect to pay extra.

Not sure why Sins of the Father was picked, at least not without the follow-up episodes. Those episodes make the whole stronger, though its a darn good episode in it's own right. Inner Light is more than relatively good to most people...Encounter is not a good episode by most measures but it does have one thing the remastering can use...lots of FX scenes!

Just one thing...Encounter was nominated, but did not win Best Dramatic Hugo...that honor went to The Princess Bride...beating Robocop and Predator as well.

Sins Of The Father won an Emmy for best art direction and deservedly so. Visually it's a very interesing episode and the remastered Blu Ray edition should really bring out the details of the set design. We'll probably see some great new digital matte paintings of Qo'Nos.

^ This.

Plus, it'll be very interesting to see what the remastering does with all those dark and murky scenes on Qo'Nos - as opposed to the clean and bright Enterprise-D interiors.

Yay!

Thread title needs altering, its not a rumour anymore.

I wonder if they re-scan ILM Encounter at Farpoint SFX like they did for Generations?
