Rumor me this! Batman!

what about the rumor that wesely was going to be revealed to be picard's son in nemesis...that might have made that movie 100% better than it turned out to be...Rob
Back in November of 1992, I was out of town in training for work when I met a fellow TNG fan in a class. We started talking and he mentioned that he believed Wesley was Picard's son. Shocked, I asked him why he believed that. He said that on at least two ocassions, when Bev and Jean-Luc were alone and about to die, (The High Ground & Attached, IIRC) she began a conversation with, "Jean-Luc, there's something I have to tell you..." Then she was interupted and we never heard what was so important. This classmate surmized that she was going to tell him that Wes was his son and not Jack's. I was extremely intrigued. That would've been a great twist! Since then, the way the episodes were written, it was nearly impossible that Wes is Picard's son.

Now there's an interesting idea - that's got me thinking now, would that fit with known continuity? would it have, at the point when the line was said?
I brought this up in another post some time ago and others pointed out some references that would preclude this, but I don't recall what they were. I think there was a line in the first episode that was contradicted later in Attached regarding when Picard and Bev actually met.

The high tide of rumors surrounding "Series V" were fun. Was it going to be a Klingon series? Starfleet Academy 90210? A prequel series?

And yes, there were definitely rumors that Voyager would return home early, with at least half a season (but earlier even 1 or 2 full seasons) set in Federation space. And these are not really rumors (at least, I don't think it was public knowledge before the show aired), but Voyager was intended to be an old Cardassian War veteran starship at some point.

There are vague rumors of Lucille Ball (of Desilu) having visited the Star Trek sets (even vaguer rumors that there are photographs of this) back in the 60s.

The first rumor is fact. I created and pitched the idea to the studio for StarFleet Academy. It had the support of many. Paramount heads killed it (and my dreams).
...and yes, some called it 90210, but at the time that was THE hit show on TV. It was to follow Wesley to the Academy, involve Red Wing... action through training exercises, drama from classmates & instructors... even the possibility of some dropping out due to war or disillusionment.
Forgive my ramblings, but it meant a lot to me. Now it has been reduced to a rumor. Now you know why I hate DS9 so much. They replaced my dreams with that crap. :(

TOS was filmed at DesiLu Studios, so it is quite possible that Lucy came by to check on things in person.
