RTD on The Next Doctor in DWM (spoilers)

No, I actually remember RTD saying once that he never cared for the Master and had no intention of ever bringing him back.
Do you happen to remember where that was? In DWM 384 (I think this is what you're recalling elsewhere in your post) RTD himself said unprompted "Did you hear me say that I didn't like the Master, and didn't want him back? Well, I was lying!", so I assume he had done so before, but despite the fact that every fan seems to remember it I can never seem to find out where. The Doctor Who Confidential for "Dalek" has the softer "well, with the right story..." formulation I mentioned, and that's the only pre-"Utopia" quote on the Master I've found.

Sadly, all I remember is reading in 05 (around the time S1 ended) an interview with RTD where he was asked if we could ever expect the Master to pop up in future seasons, and he said no since he never really liked the Master.

That's more than most people remember- thanks!

Maybe he is the eleventh Doctor, but the tenth Doctor prevents his own regeneration due to traveling with number eleven? Then poof; Morrisey Doctor is erased. Then Ten can add in that since the regeneration process is the response to an immediate crisis that his next incarnation probably won't look a thing like Morrissey...though it could.

RTD is yanking our chain...I hope! I really don't want Morrissey to the the 11th Doc (or any other).

Methinks RTD dost protest too much.

Morrisey could easily be a companion of a future Doctor who has suffered some trauma to leave him thinking he is the doctor and know enough about the Doctor to leave 10 wondering if he is a future incarnation.

And yeah, RTD's full of it. This guy isn't a future Doctor. And per the little snippet I've seen of this Morrisey guy, I'd hope not. His acting was pretty weak in those scenes...

I saw him as just acting as an arrogant version of Tennant, though holding an actual screwdriver instead of a sonic one screamed extra fraud. I'm just hoping we see his fake TARDIS ;)

When I heard the title a few ideas came around...

One was that he was Ace Rimmered and after the Doctors regenerations were done with, he'd pass the title down to other people. Another was that he was wrong about his other self not being able to regenerate and the half human Doctor started a new line...

Theres also the possibility of a 'possible' Doctor, far future version or a duplicate made in the Time War. Afterall the Time Lords ressurected the Master, why not ceate another Doctor and have two of them fighting instead of one? Plus cloning themselves would increase their numbers against the Daleks.

Though... I still say he's a fake. Hopefully Stephen Moffat will be a much better liar than RTD.

From the clip I saw of him saying he was the Doctor, he came off as a version that I won't like, he seems suited for the old era of Who...Maybe it was just that scene.

After reading that, I'm picturing him as being a recast for Colin Baker

Agreed. I think he must be overacting on purpose. I hope I get to see a side of his acting ability in the episode that will have me yearning for him to actually BE The Doctor. That would be a nice surprise after last years crapfest.

Heh...no doubt. I'm thinking there will be a lot of "No Comment" and sarcastically ridiculous answers. I doubt he'll even try to be sincere and will just be like "Patience, fanboy, patience!"

And may I say, your avatar is bad-the-fuck-ass!! I'm totally stealing it and using it on another message board... :techman:

Yes, theres obviously going to be an unexpected twist hes not telling us about. I seriously doubt RTD would confess such a major spoiler before the story aired.

Cheers ;) I've been going very Sisko lately - though I can't seem to give up my 'shoes' Doctor Who icon on a wrestling forum.

And yeah, I hope your speculation on the Moffatisms are right. I actually enjoyed RTD's methods at first, but he just doesn't handle it well. Especially getting over excited and blowing the Master reveal.
