Forum Name: Star Trek: Horizons of War
Forum Genre: Star Trek
Short forum description:
Setting: The year is 2408. The Romulan Star Empire is in ruins. Since the destruction of Romulus, the worlds of the former empire have fragmented. Some worlds have rebuilt. Other have descended into chaos. One thing is for certain, the balance of power has shifted, and now the Federation and Klingon Empire both try to capitalize on these changes.
Starbase Prime has been built to extend Starfleet?s influence in the former Romulan territories. Among the Starbases duties are to protect civilian shipping, provide humanitarian relief to impoverished Romulan planets, and to keep the Klingon Empire at bay.
About the game: The game is unique in that way it features three ships in one game, playing in the same universe and hence in the same episode (even if we have different plotlines). The idea is to play in a world bigger than the walls within one ship. Main focus on this game is character development, but the plot development is just as important.
Like most Star Trek games we write in episodes, each episode presenting a new main plot idea. These plots ideas are planned in the community, so suggestions and ideas are very much welcomed. Arc-driven plots are also welcomed.
Character Search:
* USS Vanguard is looking for:
Chief Security/Tactical Officer
The Chief Security Officer is called Chief of Security. Her/his duty is to ensure the safety of ship and crew. Some take it as their personal duty to protect the Commanding Officer/Executive Officer on away teams. She/he is also responsible for people under arrest and the safety of guests, liked or not. S/he also is a department head and a member of the senior staff, responsible for all the crew members in her/his department and duty rosters. Security could be called the 24th century police force. The Chief of Security role can also be combined with the Chief Tactical Officer position.
Chief Medical Officer
The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the physical health of the entire crew, but does more than patch up injured crew members. His/her function is to ensure that they do not get sick or injured to begin with, and to this end monitors their health and conditioning with regular check ups. If necessary, the Chief Medical Officer can remove anyone from duty, even a Commanding Officer. Besides this s/he is available to provide medical advice to any individual who requests it. Additionally the Chief is also responsible for all aspect of the medical deck, such as the Medical labs, Surgical suites and Dentistry labs. S/he also is a department head and a member of the Senior Staff and responsible for all the crew members in her/his department and duty rosters.

* Risky Venture is looking for:
Cargo/Logistics Officer
Deals with the important job of taking care of the cargo of the vessel. Without the cargo the whole crew loses it commission.
Engineer
Many times the crew might face dangers or need to escape, then its up to the engineer of the vessel to make sure the engine works. The ship is a klingon bird of prey; it requires knowledge and skills to keep such a vessel functioning.
Navigator/Pilot
A good pilot is priceless for a civilian ship, ..
* IKV Azetur is looking for civilians:
Weapons Officer
On Klingon ships, the Weapons Officer is in charge of weapons and
piloting the ship.
Assault Force
Assault Force, is in charge of defence and more specifically: attacking and boarding enemy ships. Klingon do pride themselves on battle, Assault Force officers are considered elite. Most officers must spend between three and five years as a patrol officer before even being considered for Assault Force.
AF are highly specialized in defensive tactics, firearms of all kinds (Starfleet, Orion, Tholian, Romulan, Cardassian, Gorn, Kzin, Caitian and Dominion; old and new weapons of all kinds). Assault Force is also a better fit for younger officers (21 to 30), except in the supervisory and command positions. This is not a rule, but a practical reality. The vast majority of AF time is oriented toward training. Due to the physical demands of much of that training, and the repetitive nature of that training, boredom and "burnout" tends to be a factor for leaving that unit.
To become an officer in Assault Forces, is based on pure ability, skill, and collective team work. Anything less, would put the unit in peril, and increase the likelihood of the entire unit dying in a
single mission.
CHIEF ENGINEERING OFFICER: (CEO)
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all ship's systems. This includes presumed maintenance, system upgrades and repairs to correct malfunctioning or damaged systems. Chief Engineer is a department head position requiring a rank of Lieutenant or above. On large vessels, the Chief Engineer is usually a Lieutenant Commander. Chief Engineer is easily the most demanding officer posting aboard a starship next to the commanding officer because Their responsibility is virtually every part of the ship with the exception of the crew. Unlike most other starship offices, his/her primary post is not on the bridge but in the engineering section.
