Rough Beasts of Empire cover

Sisko with hair minus the beard....hmph, not really a fan of that.

Seeing Spock though made me smile. Something about that pointed ear guy

Sisko's image looks it was from a photograph of Avery Brooks twenty years ago. Seems a bit odd to go with the less well known appearance of Sisko. I'm a little disappointed with it.

I would assume it's a representation of Sisko back in the days of the Tzenkethi War, which apparently will be flashed back to in the novel.

I'm just wondering what's up with the turtleneck.

That would make sense I suppose. I'm sure I've see publicity images of Avery Brooks wearing that exact turtleneck jumper. Its not very original if the artist just copied that.

Spock looks. . . somehow younger than I recall he should be as well. Perhaps the cover image does represent a flashback.

The cover is...underwhelming.
Two photoshopped pics of Sisko and Spock, the background a non-descript starfield/planet.
Looks like it was done as cheaply as possible.

The cover should have presented something relating to the tzenkethi - themselves, their ships, etc. We never saw anything relating to them - the cover should have introduced us to their aesthetic.

Except that the cover for Zero Sum Game has no Breen elements, and the cover for Seize the Fire has no Gorn elements. Based upon those covers, I wouldn't have expected Tzenkethi or Romulan elements on the cover to Rough Beasts, nor will I expect the cover for Paths of Disharmony to have any Tholian elements. There's clearly a design at work on these covers; what you wanted simply wasn't going to happen. *shrug*

We have an ideea about breen/gorn/tholian aesthetic - unlike the tzenkethi one.

The Typhon Pact covers are obviously designed unitarily - and, apparently, one main criteria was to be made cheaply.

With the Aventine on the cover of Zero Sum Game, I would have liked it if there'd been a starship on each cover - Aventine, Titan, Defiant, Enterprise maybe. It just adds a little more to the covers.

Though I never particularly minded the so called 'floating head' covers, these do seem comparatively static - the Destiny covers had a floating head and something that could be interpreted as a scene from the book, which gave it an extra touch. I kinda wish we could have something similar for these.

I'm not sure about this cover myself. I just hope its not all flashback in the whole book but at least whenever a past scene comes to mind.
