Roranicus Pondicus Invictus!

Rory Williams is in trouble like the Xenomorph was in John Hurt.

Rory waits 2000 years through the dark ages, the black plague and the London blitz. Amy waits 35 years in a comfy hospital with a zillion holodecks. Who turns into a bitter homicidal maniac? Advantage: Rory.

- from the facebook group "Rory Williams is the new Chuck Norris"
As awesome as Rory is, this isn't entirely fair to Amy. As I and others have already said in this thread, it's a matter of perspective. Rory knew he needed to wait 2000 years before The Doctor would return and help him save Amy, and assuming he knows his history, he knows what to expect in general. Amy, on the other hand, felt abandoned and no idea what to expect from future. Every day was a battle for her.

But Rory could've melted in a fire and if he were broken as the Doctor pointed out there'd be nobody to fix him, so his survival wasn't cetain. Of course knowing that River is his daughter is a massive spoiler that he'd survive. Knowing the truth about River kills much of the drama even if only in reverse.
