I just finished watching the episode. Vorenus was never shown to die (and had, in fact, survived far longer than he should have), and the only time Pullo said he died was when he was lying to Octavian's face. There is absolutely no evidence that Vorenus is dead, and the fact that Pullo showed absolutely no signs of sadness or grief when he was lying to Octavian, plus his smug attitude afterwards, implies heavily that he survived.
They said several times during the episode that Vorenus was on his deathbed/wasn't likely to make it, he made peace with his children, then we saw no more of him. I'm supposed to think that the love of his children cured him?
But more importantly than that, Vorenus' death was the end of his arc. Throughout the second season, Vorenus was on a redemption arc after causing his wife to die and cursing his children into slavery. Everything that drove him in season 2 was based around that arc in one way or another, and it makes sense that the arc would end with him making peace with his children and dying with them next to him. For Vorenus to survive undercuts the finale.
And for what? So that Vorenus can abandon his family again in order to go to Germany with his buddy? I'm not sold on that.

It would be like bringing The Shield back and saying that Mara and Jackson aren't really dead. After all, we only saw them laying on a bed with their eyes closed, they could have been asleep, or pretending. And when Claudette tells Vic about their deaths later on, she could have been lying to him because she wanted to hurt Vic. They could do that if they wanted, but it would absolutely ruin the finale and the legacy of the show.
Rome's legacy wouldn't have been as damaged by claiming that Vorenus survived, because The Shield's finale was much more powerful. But it would diminish the finale in my eyes, and the show as a whole.
