Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

A movie about Dooku and his padawan Jinn sounds more interesting to me than a movie about a young han solo

I'm still waiting for the "Obi-Wan goes full Yojimbo on Tatooine" movie. (I may be waiting a while.)
That's certainly the more likely option, though I'd go more towards 'The Searchers' than 'Yojimbo'. That said some of this narrative real-estate already seems to have been staked out by the new comics.

The 'Kenobi' novel by John Jackson Miller also took a similar tack. Granted it's now a 'Legends' title but I kind of like to head-canon it in, at least in the broad strokes.

Wasn't Kenobi the last novel to come out before the old EU was wiped out? Seems kinda arbitrary to call it non-canon when it was being developed and written at a time when they knew the EU was about to become Legends.

There were in fact three more novels released after Kenobi before the EU was nullified. Empire and Rebellion: Razor's Edge, Maul: Lockdown, Honor Among Thieves. Honor Among Thieves in fact was published over a month prior to the EU's nullification. Regardless, all these novels are now branded under the Legends banner.

Gah, I dunno why I forgot about those. I haven't really followed the novel line as closely as I used to.

To be fair, the Kenobi novel wasn't written with the new canon status in mind so there are a number of direct references to other EU stories that'd be somewhat problematic to just copy/paste into canon.

What I'd like to see is a comic book adaptation that'd serve as a good companion piece to those little vignettes in the new comics where the EU references could easily be excised.

Apparently. I think I do remember seeing some comments and jokes about Bothans when the first RO trailer came out. I can see non-fans getting the first and second Death Stars confused, and the presence of Mon Mothma is probably just making it worse for them.

I think a lot of that was just fanboi baiting. Because apparently getting a slew of comments that start with "Well actually..." is a gratifying or amusing experience? I long since gave up trying to figure out the internet and it's 5 minute obsessions. ;)

And/or an end-of-credits scene showing a group of Bothans waving at the camera saying "We're ok! Really, we're fine!"

First international trailer. WARNING: contains major spoiler about one of the characters (described in the tag below). Watch at your own risk!

Jyn's father is apparently the one who sent the encoded Imperial transmission about the weapons test, thus we can assume he's a big wig in the Empire (perhaps Director Krennic?)

Mads Mikkelsen is already confirmed to be playing Galen Erso, Jyn's father. Perhaps he was involved in the construction of the Death Star?
