Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

Like I said though, that's a lot to have to explain to movie audiences so I doubt they'd go with it.

The audience doesn't need to know the minutia of Obi Wan's EU escapades. It can be explained in one line:

FORCE GHOST OBI WAN APPEARS TO REY AND LUKE.

REY: Who are you?

OBI WAN: Rey, I am your grandfather.

... which fits with TFA, if you think about it. Who tells her "These are your first steps" in her force vision?

I haven't seen his name on cast announcements or lists. Has he said anything publicly about whether or not he'd be willing to come back?
Well he played him in The Force Unleashed, I'm sure appearing in the movie wouldn't be a stretch.

I don't know. That worked with Vader mostly because we knew so little of Anakin (at the time) but we know significantly more of Obi Wan and I think on the surface, that might seem contradictory to the Obi Wan we know from the movies.

Side note: they're not "EU escapades", the Clone Wars series is just as canon as the movies.

That's what made me think it was possible in the first place and it remains my preferred option to her being a Skywalker. But looking at it objectively, it's by no means proof of a connection. Indeed we hear both Yoda and Kenobi echoing things they said to Luke and I don't think anyone is proposing Rey is related to Yoda.

Yoda isn't another species. He just got really small and shriveled with age. And green.

Kor

Yoda's not dead either, he just uses his ability to turn invisible to play with peoples emotions.

There are some who seem convinced she's Kanan's daughter, which logically should make her half Twi'lek. I'd like to know what they think she did with her lekku.

That doesn't seem so shocking considering Rogue One is the big movie this year.
There are no guarantees with Rogue One, so they are going to throw everything at it. They want it and these stand alone Star Wars Tales to be financially successful. While I'm not sure that it will do SW7 money, they want it to perform well. They need it to, so they can keep making more of these. I won't be surprised if it's not tracking the way they want and Darth Vader is in it as rumored, that they will release pictures/posters or even a trailer with him in it.

Vader isn't rumoured, he's confirmed. We know James Earl Jones is in the movie, and they've announced the actor who'll be on set in the Vader costume. I fully expect a shot of him in the next trailer.

Saw the trailer on the big screen for the first time when I saw Captain America: Civil War today. It looks so good. The shot with the Star Destroyer flying by as the dish is being placed on the Death Star was amazing.

I was looking around on Amazon for movie tie-ins and novelizations this morning and I stumbled across a novelization for Rogue One. I knew they were doing the prequel novel, but I hadn't heard about a novelization too.
While getting that link, I also just found the Ultimate Visual Guide. I wonder how different this will be from the TFA Visual Dictionary? It sounds pretty similar.

Visual Guides/dictionaries have been a staple of Star Wars related publishing since TPM and they're all pretty much the same. Mostly photos of props and characters garnished with flavour text.

The TFA Visual Dictionary was pretty cool, and actually did provide quite a bit of background from the movie.
From the leaked pages it looks like that will be the case here too. Although this time I thnk I'll save my money, all of the stuff from the TFAVD was up on Wookiepedia just a couple days after I got it.
I really like what we're seeing in the leaked pages.
That little furry guy looks like somebody crossed a Wookie and an Ewok. What does the description say about him? The pages on IGN are to small for me to make out much of the text
.
EDIT: It's starting to look like the Rogue One prequel comic might not be happening.

I really liked the TFA Visual Dictionary. I found it a lot more interesting than any of the Prequel ones and even the OT one. There was a lot more details and background info that was new and different, and obviously a lot of details on dropped plot points (The Republic, Starkiller base's snowtrooper contingent).

As for the comic, while I'm sad, I'm sure Marvel will have something for the film.
