Rocko's DS9 Trailer 2.0

Alrighty, the rehauled trailer is finally done. This is not meant to be a replacement for the original mind you (cause I'm not sure this new version is an improvement, heh), just an alternative, shorter, faster one that might be more appealing to newbies. The two biggest changes are the deletion of about half the footage, including that entire beginning section with the B5 music & Quark's funky laugh, and the replacement of Dances w/Wolves & Dragonheart with the End Credits from ST6 (jived better with the quicker pace-stuff). I dunno if it worked though. While this is probably technically better than the original, I don't see it moving anyone to tears and such.

Here's the link to the downloadable high-res file on RapidShare:

More links to YouTube and such will come soon.

Like I posted in the other thread, I can't get it onto Google Video because their screeners are being evil and rejecting it due to copyright violation. (though somehow the original was fine in that department, not sure why)

And here are all the links to the original 4 minute trailer again, for any who still haven't seen it:

Vash, I guess you can unpin the old thread and replace it with this one, yay! Thanks for watching all. Oh, and there's not gonna be a Trailer 3.0, I have to delete all the files for it, they're eating my poor laptop's harddrive alive. :p And thanks to dan_of_Earth for the "The only weapon for which it has no defense" text stuff. :)

Nice job on the editing... but yeah, I much prefer the first version. The music didn't fit all that well IMO, and it's certainly less moving than Dances with Wolves.

I am still enjoying this trailer... I started enjoying Trek with TNG, but DS9... it ages like fine wine...

I have to say I much prefer the music here. "Dances with Wolves" didn't really fit that well for me in the first version of the trailer. And the fact that you've used my favorite Trek movie music from my favorite Trek moview in a trailer for my favorite Trek show is just NICE!!! :D
As you mentioned yourself, SirRocko711, it's basically a whole new trailer since the pacing is completely different.

Holy Cow!

You changed it all around. :p

I guess it's personal preference, but I like the first version MUCH better. The first version brought a tear to my eye. It pulled at the heartstrings. This one? Not at all. There is no time between action sequences for the meaning of things to sink in. And the music now does not work as a vehicle for emotion. It's not emotional music. It's...well, I don't know what it is, but it doesn't conjure up any emotions at all.

This version is more focused on action than on relationships. And I think DS9 is more about the relationships. But the folks who watch Trek for the Big 'Splosions will love this one!

And the new music? Don't like it a bit. Has no melody - just a bunch of horns blaring. Doesn't arouse any emotional response at all.

Maybe it's a girl thing. :p

Oh well. It's still very good SirRocko. You are very talented and the editing and blending are still good. But if it's all the same to you, I'll keep watching the first version when I want to remember the stuff I loved best about DS9. Cus that version was pretty doggone near perfect, IMO. And I still tear up when I watch it. ;)

^ Heehee. Well, thanks again for the comments all. And Peach wookie, the music tracks were the B5 S3 theme, Dances with Wolves ("John Dunbar's Theme"), Naqoyqatsi, and the Dragonheart theme in that order.

Thanks, Rocko! I think I can convince my dad to be a Niner with this trailer! :)

Once again good work. Will there be a 3.0?

Thanks! Sadly though, there won't be a 3.0. I had to delete all the footage 'cause it twas taking up way too much space on my computer that I needed for something else. Oh well.

And so it begins... mwuahha!

Well, I'm sorry to say that,
but the first version was much better, IMHO.

The music fit was perfect, however here, in 2.0 I didn't like it at all...where was the heroism of "our" heroes? Fighting on the final frontier...

As for the visual stuff, I think in 2.0 it was better paced, but again, the music didn't work for me at all.

I think I'll remain a fan of the absolutely perfect 1.0 version ;)
