RIP Wayne Rogers

I liked Trapper more than BJ. He and Mclean Stevenson are why I like seasons 1-3 the best.

A shame they didn't cast Wayne in Trapper John M.D.

So true, MASH hit a crossover point sometime after Rogers and Stevenson left, where it started to become less of a comedy and more of a preachy drama with a laugh track.

Later on, the Alan Alda directed eps, especially, were more dramatic, where the first 5 seasons were mainly straight comedy.

Still a great show, but a somewhat different show. I reckon they wouldn't have lasted 11 seasons with the same exact formula.

All 11 seasons are on my DVD shelf, and all 11 are ripped to my computer. But I re-watch seasons 1-3 far more often, when I need a laugh, and Wayne Rogers was a big part of that.

I meant to comment on this earlier, and forgot. I loved Wayne Rogers in MASH. His "Trapper John" was the perfect complement to Hawkeye, and together they were the best foils for Frank. Still, I get why he left, and I don't think anyone held it against him. I know Alan Alda said many times how much he loved and respected Rogers.

May he rest in peace.
