Riker carrying Data through the Enterprise jefferies tubes.

In "Disaster" Data uses his body to interupt, and stop, an energy arc crossing a jefferies tube junction. He instructs Riker on how to remove his head from the rest of his body so Riker can have Data to effect repairs in engineering.

I would've loved to seen a scene or two of Riker carrying Data's head through the jefferies tubes in the conversations they may of had -presuming Data was "running" during the time. I could picture Riker tired of trying to carry Data through a horizontal shaft and just rolling Data's head down to the next junction.

I guess it would seem too broad and obvious for many, but I think I'd enjoy the obligatory comic scene that would lead to, with Picard about to sit down on his chair and jumping with a startled shock as he sees he's about to sit on Data's head. And of course Data would respond with a casual "greetings". :)

I totally would have loved that.

I also loved it when B-4 ask "Why is that mans head shiny?"

I don't remember this bit of the episode... Does Riker hook Data to anything to make him talk? After all, an Android is a complete system like a human. You can't just have a talking head with no body. Data has pretty much held to that idea in most episodes.

Data gets zapped by an arc of electricity in a jefferies tube and begins instructing Riker on how to remove his head. The next time we see him Riker has hooked him up to a console in Engineering.

No implication is really given either way if Data was "awake" during the transit to Engieering but it seems to me that we're supposed to take it Data was "awake" during the trip, as there some stuff with Riker needing to hook Data up to the computer.

Data's head could work independantly from his body, his head having a limited local powersource and containing all of his memories, processors, etc. Hs "body" mostly consisting of the mechanics for motion and his primary powersouce.
