The beginning of CoR has him on the ice planet, chased by Toombs and his mercs....that scenario could very well spin off a story as to how Riddick actually wound up there (ending with him on the run from Toomy)... I wasn't aware that the chronology had been set as definitely following the last movie, but a guy can imagine, can't he?The synopsis on the linked page specifically starts "Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet [...]." Who else would that be at this point except the Necromancers?

Towhry has stated that we will see Riddick returning to his routes from "Pitch Black" and that "Dead Man Stalking" will take place shortly after COR and address the events from the end of that movie. The synopsis on the linked page specifically starts "Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet [...]."
