Rewatching Voyager

I took your advice and watched the second movie with Khan. It must be me but I didn't get any wiser. Where were there any wars mentioned in the first place? And these eugenics in particular? I'm sorry but ... can you tell me what's going on?

Without wishing to become too repetitive, I've just watched the second movie and felt exactly the same way. It was very slow and hardly anything happened.
The only good thing was that I think I understand the last ST movie with Benedict et al a bit better. Otherwise it was just tedium. It's strange because Voyager is often not exactly action-packed, either and I still love every second of it. It must be the characters and all that love that there is among them, I guess.

By the sounds of it I'm pleased I didn't continue onto number two. And yes I know what you mean, Voyager does not rush epsiodes and pack them full of action. Some have no fighting at all, some just focus on a singular story good example of that is that lifeforms thst takes over the ship and mixes all the corridors (Que Mr Paris for an epsiode name) I enjoyed that episode even thought the story was slow as you say the characters just make the show with fab dialogue and great interactions.

I think the reason I prefer VOY to TNG is Becuase it does just move thst little bit faster if you know what I mean? Like for example the self destruct sequence in Voyager is like computer self destruct Janeway Pi11alpha (someone her probably knows that actual code xD) where on TNG it literally takes an absolute age xD and I think that's why I prefer it. Not to say TNG is bad at all I have really enjoyed some episodes I watched of it especially anything to do with Data.

TWISTED is the name of that episode and I love it. It is Robert Picardo's pet hate. :rommie: I guess part of the reason I like it so much is that it basically takes place at Chez Sandrine and I like that holoprogramme. Plus someone close to my heart also features quite a lot in it, :D:

I don't like TNG very much, either - except for a few episodes (THE INNER LIGHT was very good). If it has to be Star Trek save Voyager, then it's DS9 for me. I'm not saying it's the most exciting show in the world - by far not - but overall it's watchable and when you have worked your way through it once already, then it's a lot more interesting on the second viewing. I'm actually watching it for the third time now and although it's nothing like VOY, I'm enjoying it a lot more than previously.
Talking about boring Star Trek shows, I can't imagine what the creators of Enterprise had hoped to achieve but I seriously doubt that they achieved it. In my book, nothing can come anywhere near Enterprise in the competition for the title of "The most boring show in the world" ... :brickwall:

Indeed I remember a Voyager event where they were saying it was so boring to film just shorts of them walking through corridors xD but as you say the episode was great. And I pretty much enjoyed any holodeck stories especially the Irish village (the name is eluding me but I do know it xD) and San andriens.

And yes the two times you've mentioned ENT you've said it literally bored you too death so I am defenitly never watching it lol.

Eugenics Wars

Khan

These two links should help. Don't really have time to explain it all, but if you want to know more about it, watch these episodes:

Borderland (ENT)
Cold Station 12 (ENT)
The Augments (ENT)
Space Seed (Star Trek)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Doctor Bashir, I presume (DS9)

Thanks. I know DOCTOR BASHIR, I PRESUME so I understand that this has something to do with genetically enhanced individuals. I never knew, however, that there were actually wars because of this.

FAIR HAVEN and SPIRIT WALK. I also love both episodes (many people hate them). I've actually just started downloading film stills for FAIR HAVEN - it'll be my next episode which I'm going to make wallpapers for.

And yes the two times you've mentioned ENT you've said it literally bored you too death so I am defenitly never watching it lol.
Well, I really don't want to influence your decisions ... You should give it a try. Like I said, for me it's definitely the most boring of all Trek shows but then I'm bored with Picard, too and it seems that you like that show to a certain extent. So maybe you'd appreciate ENT more.
I'll stick to DS9, which is, again, pretty boring most of the time but there's at least a large story arc in it starting with the last episode of Season 2 and that one's pretty interesting. Plus DS9 gave us THE VISITOR and it's a gem in my book.
But of course for genuine entertainment I alway go back to Captain Kathryn Janeway and her loyal crew. You just can't get enough of them! :luvlove::luvlove::luvlove:

I look forward to seeing the wallpapers :p and I'm not sure why people don't like them? I think it's a really nice change from the space fairing episode. And I really like the man that falls In love with Kathy too I wish we coulove explored thst further :p

I beileve the only reason I like some epsiodes of TNG are because data or Warf plays a key role. Personally I think Picard is monotomous and I don't really like Riker either. Just those two character I like as they both often add a little light hearted touch to the show. I think the most memorable episode of TNG is when the crew are looking at crew assignments and promotions, and quite a junior officer comes back dead after being sent on a really dangerous away mission don't know it's name. There defenitly might be better episodes out there however.

I think if I ever run out of TV I might try ENT but atm I'm watching Star gate universe, Orphan black and NCIS. But really this is what I'm looking forward tohttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_(2017_TV_series)

I really hope this happens!! :)

But of course as you say nothing tops Voyager! :)

Tomalak! Have you watched the latest episode of orphan black! Go Siobhan! I don't want to give any spoilers though!

Yes I have and it put Season 4 over the edge. I had a profile post about it after I saw the episode. Tat Is freaking Amazing.

Ahh! I know right, I've enjoyed this season so much. I really can't wait to see what happens with the cure. I swear if Cosmia dies I'll be so sad ; (. I also quite like Ira although his relationship with Susan is unusual to say the least! I also really hope Delphine comes back! So many different stories, it's amazing. Also mean who doesnt love Alison and donnie xD I've probably just mentioned like 50 different people I love haha but really Tatinia Malasy Is the real god of the show so insanely talented :P

Also when do you think Helena might come back she's been gone for quite a few epsiodes now

I look forward to seeing the wallpapers
So do I, actually. There'll be lots of Tom, LOL!

and I'm not sure why people don't like them?
Beats me. I've noticed on these fora (here as well as on Facebook) that many people hate the holodeck episodes. As for me, I love most of them. On Voyager, Leonardo da Vinci is undoubtedly my favourite holographic character - if I were aboard, I'd love to become his apprentice (together with Janeway, of course). I quite like the Paxau Resort, too - that Caribbean atmosphere would be a welcome change after my shift on the Bridge is over. And for a genuinely exciting story I'd turn to the insurrection programme - now that one seems to be more exciting than any amount of crime stories :techman:.

Personally I think Picard is monotomous and I don't really like Riker either.
Picard for me is simply unbearable - I'm not sure I'm using this expression correctly but I've read somewhere that he is anally retentive? Does that mean he is not flexible enough? If so, then I definitely agree with this.
However, Picard is by far not the biggest problem for me with TNG. The problem is boredom. I once watched the whole series, then started it again and got stuck in the middle of Season 4. I just couldn't bear to watch it beyond that point and simply gave up. Interestingly enough, the opposite happened to me in the case of Deep Space Nine. I didn't really like it on the first viewing (although I liked it more than TNG on the first viewing) but I found it better for the second time and now that I'm watching it for the third time, it appears to be pretty good.

I beileve the only reason I like some epsiodes of TNG are because data or Warf plays a key role.
I definitely don't like Worf and the whole stuff about Klingon rituals (mercifully we have very little of this on VOY and there it is okay) but if you do, I can heartily recommend DS9 to you. He joins in Season 4 (THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR) - he is probably supposed to be the Seven of Nine of DS9, although he falls behind her in every respect. Although of course, that might be just me but I do think Seven is a lot more interesting than Worf ever was.

I think if I ever run out of TV I might try ENT but atm I'm watching Star gate universe, Orphan black and NCIS.
Is this Orphan Black a sci-fi show?
As for StarGate, I don't like Universe but SG1 and SGA are particular favourites of mine.

But really this is what I'm looking forward tohttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_(2017_TV_series)

Everyone except me is so excited about the new Star Trek series. I was also very keen at the beginning but now that it seems it's not going to happen after Voyager - I had hoped for a series in the 25th century - I've lost my enthusiasm.

Warlord

This isn't actually my favorite Kes episode of the series, but I think it was the episode where Jennifer Lien acted this best, if that makes any sense. We've seen the outer body episodes before (Heck, even in Star Trek with DS9's The Passenger) but Lien looked like she had a blast in this episode as Tieran. Loved watching that struggle between Tieran and Kes, and that scene where we go inside the mind to show that struggle is actually one of the most memorable scenes in Voyager up to this point. I actually wish we got this wild side of Kes for the rest of the season.

By the way, my all time favorite Kes episode (And one I watch often) is Before and After, which is coming a little later on. ;)

My favourite Kes episode is BEFORE AND AFTER, too. It's a pity we can't see Kes any more in the sequel, i.e. in YEAR OF HELL.
As for me, I am happy they didn't stick to Kes's darker side. For me she was always a kind and delicate creature who brought a lot of warmth to the show. Nevertheless, I like WARLORD, and what I appreciate even more than the actual episode is the outfit she wore on that one. It was superb, IMO.
Plus WARLORD is the episode in which the Paxau simulation is introduced for the first time and whenever an episode takes place there, I feel that it's an additional bonus. I wish I could be there - instead I am here in Central Europe, where summer seems to be more like autumn at the moment ... :(
Yes, airing on BBC America. It's the show I'm most excited about at the moment.
In all probability it'll take a while before this shows arrives in Hungary but I'll keep a lookout for it.

I know right! Leonardo is fantastic. Same for many of the other programs that they run, one of my all time favorite Tom/Tuvok episodes (All thought not completely focused on them) is the one where Seska comes back to haunt them all those years later on the holodeck. It really had me on the edge of my seat! Personally, I just thought holodeck were a pleasant change from the confines of a starship.

It does indeed mean that he is not flexible, although most people shorten that phrase to anal ( Be careful throwing that word around though haha :P ). And yes I totally agree Picard compared to Janeway is like comparing A block of stone to a ruler. One will bend and one will not. And although the circumstances are different I just find Picard boring. (Sorry to any TNG fans out there reading this that's just my opinion of him!)

You see I really enjoy the other cultures of Star Trek, especially Vulcans and indeed Klingons. Which is why I like Tuvok and Warf. And is also why I like Data and the Doctor because although they are not different species as such? They are something different. I can't think how to describe it :P

And yes after exams I will watch DS9, it's on my list of things to do :P

Also, I've never watched any Star Gate before, I just randomly found it on Netflix on my recommended things to watch. So which one comes first? I don't really know anything about it, just watching it out of interest. I particularly like Dr Rush from SGU does he appear in any of the others?

And yes yes yes Orphan Black is amazing If you ever get some spare time Mr Paris its a must watch. Season 4 has been amazing!!! It is on netflix for us I'm not sure in Hungary though

That's exactly the holoprogramme I referred to when I said "the insurrection programme". The episode is called WORST CASE SCENARIO and my beloved Thomas is fantastic on it, as always .
I just thought holodeck were a pleasant change from the confines of a starship.
I agree. However, this is not the main reason I like the holodeck but rather because on a holodeck you can do things that you can't in real life. E.g. organizing an insurrection or even better go back to the Second World War. Not to mention meeting aliens from the eighth dimension in the Captain Proton programme or falling in love with a 19th century Irish bartender ... you name it. It's interesting we haven't seen it used as an arena for a pop concert - if I were on Voyager, I'd do it all the time.
( Be careful throwing that word around though haha :P ).
I promise to be very careful with this ecpression in the future,:biggrin::biggrin:.

This is exactly how I feel. No matter how much more he sticks to the letters of the rules I am simply bored by him. Janeway, on the other hand, is full of surprises and this makes her so much more interesting to watch.
Not that I couldn't relate to her decisions. All of them, actually, except the one in ENDGAME. I never thought she made a mistake or acted rashly. 99% of the time I would have done the same thing.
You see I really enjoy the other cultures of Star Trek, especially Vulcans and indeed Klingons. Which is why I like Tuvok and Warf. And is also why I like Data and the Doctor because although they are not different species as such? They are something different. I can't think how to describe it :P

On Voyager everybody is interesting, on DS9 some of the characters are interesting and on TNG there's hardly anyone I am able to relate to. This includes Worf and I'm afraid he isn't any more interesting on DS9, either. But that's again just me, a lot of people think that just like Seven sexed up Voyager (literally as well as figuratively :)), Worf was an added bonus on DS9. This is not how I feel about that show and I find that I like the events on Seasons 2 and 3 a lot more than what happens afterwards. But I'm not going to give anything away since you are on the brink of starting it.
And yes after exams I will watch DS9, it's on my list of things to do :P
Season 1 is a bit slow with some interesting episodes, mainly towards the end. THE DUET in particular springs to mind - one of DS9's best, IMO. I also like CAPTIVE PURSUIT somewhere at the beginning - that alien (called Tosk) was pretty likeable, I thought.
Also, I've never watched any Star Gate before, I just randomly found it on Netflix on my recommended things to watch. So which one comes first? I don't really know anything about it, just watching it out of interest. I particularly like Dr Rush from SGU does he appear in any of the others?
This a Voyager thread so maybe we should discuss this in a pm. If you feel like sending me a pm, please do so.
For the moment, all I'm going to tell you about it is that the whole StarGate thing starts off with a feature film (called STARGATE - starring Kurt Russell). Then comes StarGate-SG-1 - my favourite of the franchise. Then, there are two more movies (called SG: THE ARK OF TRUTH and SG: CONTINUUM). This is then followed byStarGate Atlantis with Mr Shepherd in the main role (played by the very sexy Joe Flanigan :adore:). The last series is StarGate Universe and it's exactly because of Rush that I don't like it :brickwall:.
And no, he mercifully doesn't appear in the other SG shows.
Word of warning: SGU is basically unfinished - be prepared.
And yes yes yes Orphan Black is amazing If you ever get some spare time Mr Paris its a must watch. Season 4 has been amazing!!! It is on netflix for us I'm not sure in Hungary though
And I think I've already responded to this - see above.

Maybe not a darker Kes, but this Kes kind of had more personality. Maybe this is Kes's Timeless, where in that episode Kim got a whole lot more personality just by being a little darker. I hate when the writers use the "We don't know how to write for this character" excuse, when if you think about it for a few minutes based on the material you have, you have a bit of a guideline for how to write for said character.

I will respond to you tomorrow Tom just that my mind isnt working on so many words tobight haha xD

And with you on that one Tomalak! It's a pretty excuse that they come up with when they give chracter bad development

Indeed, the Holodeck is a fantastic way to create stories that would not normally be able to be created, particularly WW2 as you say, I really enjoyed these episodes with the Hirojen. You saw a really different side to them (Well some of them..).

And absolutely agree with that I think she makes calculated decisions considering her crew's life completely above her own. I also very much enjoy pissed off Janeway e.g. In Scientific Method (YES I REMEMBERED AN EPISODE NAME!! :o ) her decision at the end was rash but just fit the episode perfectly. I must say Tuvok say's one of his killer lines at the end of that episode. It would definitely be in my top 3 lines for him haha xD

I look forward to starting DS9! Are you active on that forum as well?

I've indeed heard about it being unfinished ;( but I've watched 8 episodes of it now xD but yes I do go rather off topic! I'll pm you about it :P

And yes sorry about doubling the orphan black bit haha! you posted your original response while I was still typing mine so I hadn't seen it yet :P
