I might have misinterpreted thing, but I got the impression that he was her spy. Although now that I think about it more, it might be that he changed sides after he went on the run.
Miles and Neville were never friends.I think the other thing is...she knows the two have been enemies after being friends....so they are the best combination to keep each other in check. We see what happened when she tried to assign a regular babysitter to Miles.

I got that feeling too. She did call him by his first name, right? Would she do that if they just met eachother?
I also remember thinking that it sounded like it was something that had been going on for a while, not something that had just happened.Calling someone by their first name can also be interpreted as a show of power over that person.

They didn't try and explain that away, though. It's medicine from the future, it IS magic. If McCoy stopped to explain how it worked, and it violated KNOWN principles about how things work, you'd have a nit worth picking.
