Revisiting the '60s...

I've decided to do a little time traveling...back to the '60s.

Today Amazon.ca confirmed my order that includes the 2nd season of Mission: Impossible. I already saw first season from a friend and it just doesn't quite feel like the same show. Earlier this year I watched the 1st season of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea and both seasons of The Outer Limits. But presently I'm contemplating ordering up the 1st season of Lost In Space and The Time Tunnel. I'd also like to look back at The Six-Million Dollar Man, U.F.O. and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

I've just finished my revisit of Star Trek TOS and have just started TAS. I'll finish that first then go on to the next stuff.

the 1st season of Lost in Space is good. always loved the black and white season, after that things got pretty campy. not that it was a bad thing mind you, i love Lost in Space. though, not so much that episode with the talking carrot man.

I just remembered. I have 1st season Bewitched as well and I'll be ordering 2nd season soon. I also have Space Ghost on my shelf.

The 1960's b&w episodes of Doctor Who are awesome the original Twilight Zone is also a classic and also available in HD but I haven't seen that version how does it look?

i didn't know Space Ghost was out on dvd. is it one of those on demand dvd sets? i was never much for Bewitched, loved I Dream of Jeannie though.

The Twilight Zone looks spectacular in HD. I have the first four seasons on Blu-Ray and look forward to getting the fifth.

I'll never be able to get through all of the special features, though.

That'll be the lack of Peter Graves, I expect. Though Steven Hill is kind of cool though. And Landau is fab in everything. They hadn't quite worked out the formula either. There are some cracking episodes in both seasons - but then it is the best tv show America ever produced.

My weekend lunchtime viewing has been 60s TV for many years now - Hawaii 5-0, Mission: Impossibe, Mannix, Mod Squad, Man From UNCLE, Kung Fu, Invaders, Avengers, Wild Wild West, UFO...

My daughter just gave me The Prisoner for my birthday, so that's next on the list.

I also have the complete definitive Twilight Zone on DVD, but my wife's going to watch that with me. For our together watching we still have to finish The Honeymooners (Classic 39) and some of season 1 of Saturday Night Live before we get to TZ.

With the summer upon us, I don't expect we'll be watching TZ until fall/winter.

Hmm. Perhaps you should spend a little time learning instead. Maybe some Recent American History-Pop Culture sub heading. Just so you can alleviate the confusion... :guffaw:

Yesterday I received my set of Mission: Impossible Season 2. Today I watched the first episode. It's been so very long since I've seen this series. Awesome!

I love the theme song. Barbara Bain is howlingly gorgeous. And I just love the set up of turning the criminals on each other. This was all about smarts and "how to" as opposed to big explosions and mindless actions and impossible stunts as was seen in the Tom Cruise versions.

Awesome!

Early in the game and seeing TOS alumni. :techman: In the first episode "The Widow" we got William Windom sporting some vague European accent. In the second episode "Trek" we get Mark Lenard speaking in some South American accent.

Two things got me about the second episode. Firstly seeing Mark Lenard with very dark hair and a goatee made me instantly think of what Sarek could have looked like in Star Trek's Mirror universe. The second thing that struck me was how the accompanying music seemed much like what we heard in TOS' "Friday's Child."

i've been watching the third season of The Twilight Zone and noticed William Windom in Five Characters In Search of an Exit. also, noticed Nimoy in A Quality of Mercy. haven't seen those episodes in ages.

I've already gone through The Wild, Wild West on netflix and have been working my way through Mission Impossible and Hawaii 5-O. If they would finish releasing the Bob Newhart show, I would finish it but as is I had to stop at season 4.

:(

If you do give Doctor Who a try, note that the B & W years-all the 60s-are unfortunately incomplete. This was due to some BBC policy which eliminated shows after their first run for the most part.

Fortunately stories such as the pilot, the first appearence of the Daleks and a good chunk of the earlier 'historical' stories (Stories with a historical setting that involved no science fiction except for the time travel) are intact, but others-such as the longer, more epic stories like Marco Polo and a good chunk of Dalek stories (Mostly in the Troughton era) are unfortunately mostly lost.

Once I get my time machine up and running I intent to remedy that.
