Spitballing here... Maybe the "fans" are actually the ceiling transporter pads, and they swing up when the transport sequence is initiated. It would make for some cool FX.
How do you gather that from that picture? Also looks like the technology is really creating a copy of the person digitally and then destroys the original, which was a hypothesis of how actual transporters might work, but not sure if I like it to actually be like that. I think they should have kept it vague.
Sure. Just not one set a few years before TOS. I'm already busy rationalising it as for some special use or an alien tech equivalent.I frickin love this new transporter. This is what a prequel should look like.

An update from 2017 but with a nod to The Cage.
I am still holding out a shred of hope that Shenzhou is from the Kelvin timeline and it will cross over to the Prime timeline, where we will find a Discovery that is more in line with Prime. Maybe they're trolling us by not showing Discovery yet.
Sigh.
And the USS Kelvin, also Prime. The shenzhon looks like a prime design stright out of ENT.

Except CBS and Paramount so not happening in a million years with the clear rhetoric both have established between one another. I'm just hoping it'll be a fun show, and to agree with Mirror Mirror the Shenzhou does look very much in line with things seen in ENT but with lots of variation on the initial. Basically I see the "Eavesverse" which makes me lol.I am still holding out a shred of hope that Shenzhou is from the Kelvin timeline and it will cross over to the Prime timeline, where we will find a Discovery that is more in line with Prime. Aside from the nacelles, sure. And the window. The exterior is pretty conventional otherwise though. The shenzhon looks like a prime design stright out of ENT.
