One thing that always 'bugged' me about that episode was the focus given on Paris being sorry about not going with Chakotay, wanting to go to rescue Chakotay only in the end for it to be a 'Nope, you can't go. The job goes to Tuvok' and I saw no reason why Tuvok 'needed' to be the one to go. It came across as lopsided.

This is an episode I like.

A great Chalotay episode with a very good plot and a good twist in the tale. Not to mention that I also like the Vori language.

I glimpsed this episode brightly before and I will glimpse it again in the now and in the soon-after! :techman:

I liked it a lot. I think is a parabel for many activities going on in various countries- brainwashing, to die for a idea (or for God), to hate the strangers, to be scared of strangers...

A very good episode, mainly due to the excellent twist at the end. The language annoyed me, but as someone pointed out to me, it's actually very clever. The language itself is part of the mind control. Mixed in with all of the pointless synonyms is a handful of words that are useful for dehumanizing the "enemy." Like Chakotay gradually adopting the word "nullify" instead of "kill" as his indoctrination progresses.

Chakotay isn't one of my favorite characters but I enjoy this episode. The language was interesting and the brainwashing concept was also interesting.
