Spoilers Resident Alien (2020 SyFy)

Hubby and I are both enjoying this; it's dark, twisted and very funny. Alan Tudyk just knocks it out of the park.

My only nerd-quibble is how, if the alien changed, as he said, at the cellular level to live among the humans, then how does the kid see him in his true form? Meh. Not that it matters; it's a plot device that I thoroughly enjoy---the way his arch-nemesis is a grade-school kid and his sidekick. I loved their "truce talks" at the diner.

What will happen now that the deputy quit? I like the Sheriff, he's hilarious, but who could stand to work with him? Just Cletus, I guess.

I've only managed to get 3 episodes in but this show is hilarious and heartfelt at the same time - it's not easy to find a balance with that.

Best line so far? "This is bullshit!" :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw: The way Tudyk just blurts it out whenever his character is so frustrated with humans is just awesome!

Edit:

Caught up to the curent episode and it only gets better. I have laughed so much with this show. something i can't say for other current comedy shows i've seen and i love the awkwardness of Harry/Allan Tudyk as he tries to navigate humanity while simultaneously trying to complete his mission.

His inner thoughts vs. what he actually says or does is so hilarious and the supporting cast is awesome too.

I really hope the show gets renewed - chances are good as it's currently one of SyFy's top performing shows so fingers crossed.

I loved Nathan Fillion as the voice of the octopus!

OMG, didn't notice that because i laughed so hard at the scene :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I love how the Firefly crew occasionally cameo's in each other projects, even if it's such small parts but that Octopus was awesome as well as Harry being high as a kite :D

I thought that sounded like him.
This is very quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. Alan Tudyk is hilarious, and the rest of the cast is great to.
Any scene with Harry and Max is pure gold, and it should be even more fun now that they're possibly going to become friends.
I loved Baker finally telling off the Sheriff in the last episode, he really did treat her like shit. It'll be interesting to see what they do with her now. The worst part of all that, is that she actually seemed to be a better cop than he was. We got some hints about what drove him to Patience in the scene with his father, and I'm curious if we're going to learn more about all of that.

I'm autistic, I admit I have trouble picking up subtleties like the way the sheriff was treating his deputy. But, is it in any way related to the fact that the sheriff's attitude stinks? I mean, like how he was actually excited by the idea of having a serial killer around?

Pretty much - he thinks he's the bomb when in reality he is a poor cop and boss. He is incompetent, arrogant, much too direct and blunt and displays narcissistic tendencies.

Just remember a few episodes back when he interrogated that guy in the school and wanted to use good cop / bad cop but did it all himself completely missing the point of the clichee method ( with obvious results)?

It makes for fun scenes though to have such a clueless sheriff and like JD i too was surprised that Liv, his Deputy, finally snapped and told him off. Other shows have been milking such a situation for several seasons.

Yeah, the Sherriff is a pretty horrible person, and I just mean in general terms, if he were a person I knew in real life sort of thing. As a member of the audience, I find him hilarious to watch, but yeah, he's very abusive towards his Deputy. Though the scene with him having breakfast with his dad a few weeks back seems to indicate his dad was at least emotionally/psychologically abusive towards him, so now he in turn bullies the Deputy.

Darcy is badass!

I didn't expect a reveal so soon in the series but Asta managed that like a champ, i don't know how i would react if an alien revealed itself to me, crisis or not. Nice background infomation on him and his race including some gross out moments. For some reason i find it hilarious that Harry still wants to destroy humanity with such glee - is he getting a bonus payment for a job well done?

Obviously that won't happen but now i wonder what the consequences will be - the government alien hunters are closing in and Harry's boss might not be too happy. 2 more episodes to go.
