Repulse class heavy destroyer TOS design

I, too, would love to see more of your WIP details. I am very much a physical modeler. I've put together some pretty robust plastic internal structure, but I think I'll try soldering up a brass chassis on something in the future. Seems like a great idea and it doesn't look too difficult.

Repulse was quickly finished for WonderFest in an unreal 15 days. She will return to the Yard for proper finishing and missing components but in the meantime here are a few images from last week as well as some studio shots.

Brilliantly TOS verging on TMP!! I must admit, even though I love the design, a little part of me was concerned that it looked a bit too sleek and out of place for late-TOS, but the finished model has totally allayed those concerns. TOS/TMP aesthetics all the way!

Beautiful crafting. If I were rich I'd ask you to build one of my designs on commission. Sigh, maybe someday. Anyone got those winning lottery numbers handy?

^^ The lottery officials keep picking the wrong numbers. I really must file a complaint.

As for the Repulse, I'm mesmerized. While it still utilizes a saucer and tubular warp nacelles, it's not a standard kitbash. There was actual thought and design skill put into it, which harkens me back to TSFS, my favorite era of Star Trek design, mostly because of the uniqueness of each of the ships. It wasn't a sea of sameness.

Great job!

I can honestly say that I have never seen more jaw-dropping model work from a fan. I also love the way in which you photograph your work. Breathtaking!

This one I like too! your lighting is really nice, guess LED's are making it easier these days?

I've only been lighting models for the last year now so I don't know a difference from what was being done before but LED is certainly a much cooler and longer lasting option with a variety of colors and sizes.

l think in the old days they would use everything from Christmas ligts to fiber lamps, bicycle bulbs and whatever was small enough to fit a certain spot in the hull.
LEDS are probably a blessing, hardly any heat, no chance of setting the hull on fire when something shorts out and the low voltage will make sure you can't electrocute yourself into a crisp anymore either.. ;)

Is it an optical illusion, or does the shuttlebay door lead to a partially open space under the "winglet" on the left side?
