Reports of a statue of Archer in the Academy scenes?

Pine's incredible!!!!!
That's perfect. :guffaw:

Paramount knows better then to make 90% of the audiance go: "why is there a statue of that guy from Quantom Leap in the movie?"

I think 90% of audience don't pay any attention to the statues in the background. They could put a status of Micky Mouse in there and they won't notice.

Unless they go the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and throw in not one, but two, very obvious shots that clearly identify the person whom the statue is memorializing.

I'd very much like this to be true. But realistically, I doubt the production team are going to this kind of trouble. A likeness of Bakula as Archer requires permission. Enterprise still doesn't have a comic book based around it (even Voyager got a few issues as I recall). Presumably all the artwork would need approval from the actors being depicted.

I think a modified NX class will be set decoration somewhere. Maybe even the odd name dropping about ENT or TNG.

...and how the hell did Nerys sneak a camera into my bedroom? I feel so violated!

While I will be paying close attention for any references to past series and movies, I am really looking forward to the era that old Spock will be from. It seems likely that it will be post-NEM by at least a half dozen years and I am intrigued by how JJA might depict the late 24th century, which is my favorite time in Trek history.

Actually there is truth to this. It has been mentioned that the name "Picard" will be mentioned in the film.

I hope they don't over do it though with winks when they talk about having something for the fans. I really don't want names dropped everywhere.

Oh they would notice... and an immediate canon argument would ensue! :klingon:
How could they tell it was Archer? Was there an alien kicking his ass?
J.J. Abrams is trying to make a movie for the masses, as well as, Star Trek fans. So,
to appeal to all the nerds and wusses, there will be a statue of Jonathan Archer at StarFleet Academy.

But Enterprise is Not. Canon!!! :scream:
Actually, it IS.
And the movie was stated to make a homage/reference to Enterprise series if I'm not mistaken.
Sarcasm, my friend. Hence the exaggeration. :) I'm totally cool with Starfleet Academy having a statue of the so-called greatest explorer of the 22nd century, even if he was a bit of a boob.

I'd rather see a statue of the two boobs to which he was closest, if you catch my meaning...

Trip & Malcolm? :guffaw:

If you're referring to the last scene of "These are the Voyages" then you're really a nerd beyond help...;)

My guess is that such references will be accurate to canon to appease us, and quickly and successfully referenced for the general movie going audience. They don't have to know anything about any of the minutae that we so love to enjoy the film. If done correctly, the masses will come out and enjoy it as an original sci-fi movie, while the rest of us will like it even more because of the details throughout. To us, it could be like being an insider knowing so much more than the others. That is, if they are successful, which I hope they will be.
