Reports of a statue of Archer in the Academy scenes?

Actually it is a statue of Scott Bakula for his work on Quantum Leap. Nice of Starfleet to honor such a great American actor like that. They'll also have a statue of Bill Mumy.

Pre-adolescent Billy Mumy from Lost in Space, or middle-aged Bill Mumy from Babylon 5?

Nah, I don't think that's true. As much as I look forward to a reference to ENT, this would just be too cheesy (whoops, did I spell that right?).

I want to see a statue of Mayweather. It should dramatize his signature moment in Enterprise--him staring dumbly at his console.

I for one would like a nod to Enterprise like that. I'm not sure though how one would identify it as a statue of Archer ...

At the risk of sounding like a smart-ass (because that's not my intention), maybe it will have a plaque that reads "Jonathan Archer"

Paramount knows better then to make 90% of the audiance go: "why is there a statue of that guy from Quantom Leap in the movie?"

I think you're overestimating the number of people who remember QL well enough to recognize Bakula. ;)

Wasn't there a commercial for ENT before it was aired that used the tagline: "Meet Captain Kirk's Boyhood Hero!" How about Cadet Kirk defending an action Archer took in a debate in a command-level SFA course? Maybe it concerns the time Archer destroyed a Xindi manned outpost unprovoked, killing all of its inhabitants. Kirk gets in a heated discussion with a classmate who states that that was Archer's darkest hour.
