Replica TOS Enterprise for sale at Star trek.com

I haven't been following this topic much, but I'm confused and hope someone here can help me.

StarTrek.com is selling a 40th Anniversary Signature Edition USS Enterprise for $1499.99. 500 total units were produced, and many more units of the non-signature edition.

Startrek.com's web site makes no mention of the "Master Replica" brand name, but this is the Master Replica ship, right?

I thought these sold out long ago, but again, I have not been following this topic. How much did they sell for when ordered from Master Replica? I'm thinking of getting one.

as far as I know they havent sold out, someone on a trek board i frequent ordered a second one (!) and I think got it in a week or so, he ordered from MR themselves, plenty of other places seem to have them in stock. It's beautiful, it has its flaws but I think the price scares people off, I wish I had the money to get one-god knows I've been torn over it for months and months

I'm sorry, but while I love Star Trek, $1500 is a bit much for a spaceship model.

How big is the thing anyway?

I think I read that it was over 2 1/2 feet long. I think the startrek.com web site said 32 inches.

They only make 500 of the signature editions and they can't sell out? I guess the price tag is just too high.

Too high? AT $1500? Don't be silly! I'll have THREE please!

Agreed. I'd be a dead man in my home if I proposed spending that much of the budget on a replica Enterprise.

I've gone overboard at times (like buying a few toys  ) but I cannot see paying THAT kind of money.

It just makes me angrier that Polar Lights was killed off before they could develop Tom Sasser's 1/350 TOS E model kit, which would be the same size as the MR "collectible," yet retail for about $50.

Fortunately I was able to move enough old junk on ebay to pay for mine. Now it's the centerpiece of my media room and I couldn't be happier. (its huge!) I thought twice about it, but I'm really glad I bit the bullet and ordered one. It truly is a work of art and expert craftsmanship not to mention absolutely stunning with the lights on....but yeah, that's a lot of cans of ravioli for sure.

I have things i could probably sell, and technically I got the ok from the wife (you know the one----the one that sounds like an ok--but it really isnt and you know you'd be dead if you really did it) but unlike most stuff I buy that I shouldnt this isnt easily hidden, nor is it someone where i can say oh I've had THAT! (I've pulled that one a few times)

^ I know that OK alright!

Note: the non-signature one is only $1000 (if you can find one). I'm tempted, but still haven't been able to convince myself to do it.

I'm with Forbin on the lamentation about the lack of a kit. (We'd probably have it by now, and the ktinga before it, if not for the RC2 thing.)

There is the $175 vacform available here and the upcoming vacform from AW that'll likely be in the same ballpark.

..here are a few photobucket pics. For a sense of scale, those figures are the ones put out by Art Asylum and are about 6 or 7" tall.

Wow. It looks great! 1500 smackers is a lot of money, but these are moving from almost every site that sells them at a pretty good clip. Amazing!
