• Removing explicit content from ST shows?

--Alot of these videos contained elements that would be worse than ]PG[ rating,​

scenes w/ kissing, characters not fully clothed, wasteful torture (?¿)

-I thought that Deep Space 9, and Voyager, at least could have been qualifyed as ]PG[
-I think that The Next Generation might count for general audience
-The original series, was maybe ]PG-13[ at the time, watching it retroactively should be rating ]R[
-Discovery, so far has gone too far w/ ` aforementioned explicit content, I.M.H.O.
-Picard series, I don't know I cannot recall
-Enterprise show, went way too far with ]R[ rating, should have had scenes removed or skipped

(( cartoon version or anime version should not use the same scale ))​

--It is just my opinion of course, that the amount of explicit content,​

is a hindrance to the narrative (iN my Humble OpiniOn)

--Audience in future won't want to see that when they are looking for the narative,​

and don't care about all the "sexual interaction" , "random torture" , "characters being unclothed"

--The ability to preserve the narrative of the storyline and the info of its overall message,​

is limiting the violent images and inappropriate behavior, from being shown in the video

To clarify, just a simple suggestion that there should be a water-down version,
a future-audience will not have the mental capacity to watch certain parts of the videos,
it avoids having to skip or fastforward through parts not contributing to the narrative.

Given the flow of entertainment from, say the 1920's until now, I would say this is a ludicrous assertion.

I am trying to think what was especially explicit on Discovery. Tilly's F-bomb? That unaired episode where Saru does his 30 minute long one-Kelpian version of O'Calcutta? Killing Lorca dozens of times?

Enterprise had nothing more explicit then an extremely cheesy and regrettable decontamination scene, plus T'pol's butt. Everyone has a butt. If you are offended by butts, you must cutt off your own butt. Or something.

Lower Decks is by far the most explicit of the shows, from some points of view, cartoon or not. Spoiler alert, ec.

Picard has the whole jack-o-lanterning the eye socket of Icheb thing. I don't like the scene. But I get why they did it.

and the there's deep space 9... oh DS9.. it's time to just get this out in the open: Odo was nude in every single scene.

Actual Star Trek, though? Not so much. Pretty tame by comparison to other cable and streaming shows. Dropping the occasional f-bomb is like child's play, literally, in that children are all well aware of it.

ST:ENT never did anything remotely approaching an "R." In US broadcast, it was a solid TV-PG, with a few episodes here and there rated TV-14 (the US television content rating system is different from the MPA movie ratings that you cite). Plenty of PG-rated movies have shown "more" than anything ever depicted in ENT. And for a broader perspective, in the Netherlands the show had an age certification of 6+, and in France and Italy it was certified for all ages.

And realistically, CBS/Paramount is unlikely to ever release "tamer" edited-down versions of any of their TV series. It's simply not industry standard to do that. It would be extra time and expense for no real guaranteed return, since demand is extremely small and most viewers simply don't care. Otherwise there would be family-friendly versions of hit adult-oriented cable shows such as Game of Thrones and The Sopranos.

There are a couple of third-party plug-in tools to filter out certain content played through streaming services, that let you get pretty specific with what you want filtered. But I won't mention any by name, so I don't look like a shill or something. At least one of them has filters for the new CBS Trek shows.

In general, there is nothing explicit about Trek. Anything that “crosses the line” usually serves a purpose in the story.

I’d suggest that you watch something else if Star Trek has too much explicit content for you. Not sure what your going to watch, since lots of tv shows today are like that.

I think there was a certain Klingon "intimacy" scene in Disco season 1, that was more than typical for past Trek productions.

Yeah...S1 of DSC had the notorious f-bomb incident, 0.05 seconds of a prosthetic Klingon boob, and some admittedly graphic "Event Horizon" style gore flashes of Voq's physical transformation. There have been an unremarkable sprinkling of other instances ("Sheer fucking hubris," Icheb's eye, Pike's melty face, etc) that are a little rough...but hey whatever.

But....I wouldn't accuse any of it of being "explicit."

Heck, TNG "Conspiracy" and TWOK had much more disturbing and graphic content than anything DSC or PIC has served up.
