Remo Williams`

Remo is Chiun's successor. In fact, he's already succeeded Chiun, taking up the title of Reigning Master of Sinanju. Traditionally, Chiun would retire at this point, and Remo would take one of his children as an aprentence. But, retirement doesn't suit Chiun so he created the title of Reigning Master Emeritus.

Remo's successor is a bigger issue. Remo has three children. One adult son who was secretly created via artificial insemination and raised by Smith, who was concerned about the possibility of Remo being killed in combat. He isn't mentally stable and would not be suited to Sinanju training. He has another son who he has never met. And he has a daughter, Freya, who he fathered with a Viking Shield Maiden he fell in love with during a competition known as the "master's challange", a tradition in which a Master of Sinanju does battle with all of the greatest assasins in the world to prove his superiority.

Freya is probably the most likely cannidate, but she has several things going against her. First of all, she's female, and Chiun is very misogynist. Traditional, all Masters are male. Second, Remo doesn't want he to get caught up in his lifestyle, and prefers something less dangerous for her, which is why he left her with his biological father after her mother was killed. Third, she is the avatar of Kali, which is probably the biggest issue since Remo is the Avatar of Shiva and there is a tendency for the avatars of these dieties to, when in close proximity, be mystically compelled to perform the dance of death that will destroy the world.

It's nice to see that there are fans of the movie and books here. With the recent (hopefully temporary) demise of the series, I was beginning to wonder if there were any out there at all.

Fans of both the movie and series might be interested in reading The Movie That Never Was. It's the original screenplay that followed the book continuity more closely.

Maybe someday we'll see Remo and Chiun on the big screen again.

Thanks for posting this. As someone who has read a good percentage of the novels, and seen the move umpteen times, it'll be interesting the read the screenplay that almost became the movie.
